Kendall today is like Dave Szott in 2002. Plug him into an otherwise strong line and he's a plus that will help. Count on him to be the bulwark on a weak line and he won't help very much. With the Jets current talent on the o-line Kendall really wasn't all that valuable. Would he have been worth using as a stopgap for a year or two? Sure. But not at the cost of having to deal with other aging players looking to renegotiate down the road. The Jets performance this year on the line will be no different than last year, mediocre and spotty but not calamitous. That would have been true with or without Pete Kendall. Now if the Jets had drafted Ben Grubb we might have had a different show to watch, but they didn't. Next year maybe we'll have our first good o-line since 2004.
I agree that this is a bad move ebcause now we don;t have a vet O-lineman to help out these guys that are not yet up to par. Brick and mangold need further development and Kendall would help with that. I don;t think that Clement is the type of guy to do it because he has been around the league and isn't realyl an impact player. The O-line has certainly gotten worse this season.
This front office and coaching staff might have faults but one of them is not being caught with their pants down. They knew this day was coming for the last couple months..at least. What happened to the 3 to 4 year plan right? Im not losing any sleep over a disgruntled 280 lb 34 year old guard in this regimes second season. This isnt a cleaning house move.
That is very true. At the very least at least we can get some of the young guys some playing time, and hopefully they can develop. If they aren't I'm sure Mangini will have no problem replacing them.
Kendall brought nothing to the center position and quite honestly, these guys are in their second season. Keeping disgruntled players on a roster so the younger guys can learn just doesnt add up to me. The only message I would take from this as a player is to just shut the f up and play football.
fftopic: Weird, but because of your avatar every time I read one of your posts I do it in an Indian accent. Very strange...
And if the Jets were mis represented in the media by Kendall I am sure they will clear the air with the team
Oh come on..if that Jets were not correct with their side of the situation...their agent would have a field day with this. Does anyone actually believe that the Jets gave him a verbal promise to redo his contract and give back any money because he is a good guy? Was that sarcasm mr murrell? kidding with you.
I meant that I'm sure they will discuss what they did and did not tell Kendall with the rest of the players to save face. I wasn't questioning that they told Kendall they would definitely give him a raise.
actually the last time i checked the patriots have tom brady and we have chad pennington the last time i checked they have richard seymour, vince wilfork and ty warren, and well if you dont get where im going with this then too bad. point in case fuck kendall, would we be a better team with him? yes. but he wouldve only been happy with a pay raise and the organization refused to pay him. so you have a catch 22. the fact that kendall retained ANY trade value throughout this media fiasco is miraculous. not that i agree but point in case was, they didnt want kendall here. and it got to the point everyone in the league with any legit info knew it. so the jets go out of their way to make it look like he got punished for speaking out of turn but they planned on keeping him. so he kept his value, meanwhile we didnt trade him sooner so we made him look like he was so good we couldnt just pull the trigger that fast. meanwhile, if the worst case scenario happened that he went to the phins. they waited this long so his transition to his new team would be less smooth. our line blows, especially with the absence of kendall, but they did what they wanted and its out of our control childish? somewhat. but in reality thats good damage control.
:breakdance: fftopic: Hahahahaha baamf thats not me simpsonized. That guy is the "jerk that says yes". He does an over-exaggerating A--YYYEEEAAASSSSSSS.
they are absolutely not wrong. Kendall signed a contract for a paycut. He signed the dotted line. I don't care how you look at it Kendall shouldn't have signed a paycut knowing there would be 3 years left on his contract then come back the next year and say he wants the money back. Tough luck Pete. Next time don't sign something unless your sure. btw we are not missing the playoffs because pete kendall is gone. It hurts the line yes, but a playoff spot. No way
First off, impugning Mangini and Tannenbaum without knowing all the facts is wrong (and not the other way around). We don't know exactly what we got for KenDoll yet, so how dumb is it to denegrate and castigate Mangini and Tannenbaum without knowing all the facts? I mean, seriously. Secondly, Kendall is far from a great lineman. He was slipping last year, if memory serves and we're a year further down the road. And perhaps they see more in Bender and Clarke than they're letting on and/or maybe they have someone else lined up to replace him. Tangini has done a good job so far, so not only do I not agree with the title of this ridiculous post, I think the author is wrong for starting it up. Again, we don't know all the facts, so right away they're "wrong?" If we got a decent mid-round pick for Pete Kendall at this point in time, that is far from "blowing it," my friend. The guy is a 34-year-old has-been who had trouble holding his own last year, much less this year. And he's a walking pariah both on and off the field. To get much of anything for this loser at this point in time is a freaking miracle.
I'm happy for Kendall but IMO we jerked him around. Ironically, the Skins have 3 linemen that @ 1 time they were our best linemen! Thomas, Kendall and Fabini
Emphasis should be placed on "@ 1 time," but even still, 2 out of 3 suck. So how is that ironic? I call it idiotic.
