This is the first time I can sayTannenbaum and Mangini have blown it. They're dead wrong her in this case. Whatever occured between Kendall and the Jets went from a small brushfire to the towering inferno. What could have been handled quietly blew up in to this mess. The Jets are operating like their the Patriots. The problem is they're not! Last time I looked the Patriots have 3 Lombardi's in the last 5 years. :pats_suck: The Jets, they have Tagliabue's letter congratulating them on making the playoffs. You as a team can't get rid of your best lineman and most experienced before the start of the season. This turned in to a pissing contest that ultimately could cost us a playoff spot. Unless they can pick up during cutdowns a veteran of Kendall's ability what have the Jets gained.

he is not their best lineman--mangold is. he is a 280 pound guard on the downward slope. he cannot run block, he cannot help move a pile. he is smart, he is a sound technician, but the league has gotten bigger, stronger and younger on him

really? a rant on getting rid of a 34 year old, out-of-prime player who is middle of the pack talent while becoming a cancer in the locker...

    seriously?

not to mention a return of a 4th round pick?

ok, your right this was a bad move

How did Mangold have such a great rookie year. It was Kendall that helped him be the center he has become.

If I recall, Mangold didnt botch any snaps last season, so that statement couldnt be more false

Last I checked, it was Kendall who went public whining about his contract....the reporters were always around him...good for Tanny for not putting up with that crap. That's been a distraction the whole TC. If he just put his head down and played the game the way it's supposed to be played he would have probably gotten his new contract. Hindsight is a bitch though.

Do you mean to tell me it was because of Kendall that Mangold had such a great rookie year? Kendall sucks at center he can't even snap. Maybe he was a good positive influence and helped Mangold get through the rigors of training camp and just preparing from game to game but Mangold is one of the best centers in the league because he's a talented beast.

i agree with LI JET FAN they made a big mistake in trading away kendall. As far as being our best lineman you could make a case. mangold in the league for one yr is hard to say hes our best. I dont agree with the FO on this move and could cost us later in the season. bad job guys.

I think it could comeback to bite us...but i agree with alot of pple on this post he's old and on a downward spiral...also a cancer what we got for him was good IMO...but it does make the oline weaker also....just gotta wait to see who gets cut....

    PS....Mangold is our BEST olineman.....period

Yeah alright smart asses , hes not the best lineman , so what about the posters original point?
Mangini and tannenbaum , did they blow it? I'm of the same opinion as well , they did , big time. Now we enter the most crucial stage of pre-season without a recognised starter at LG , oh well this time next year Chad will be rehabbing , and all of the Clemens bandwagon jumpers will get the chance to see if he really is the second coming.
My only hope is that by letting PK go , they have someone else in mind to replace him , and NOT already on the squad.

I hate it when people say this. Yes the Patriots have won 3 rings, but they operated this way (cone on silence, tough negotiation with players, etc, etc) BEFORE they won those rings. Your statement above could be read like "the Patriots were an open, player friendly team until they earned the right to be hard asses after their super bowl wins". That's not the case, the Jets are trying to establish their organization as one that won't be bullied into contract extensions or other concessions, which both the Revis and Kendall negotiates demonstrate, but where a player proves their value, they will proactively throw them the money, like they did with Brian Thomas and Cotchery. Tangini have done nothing wrong and just because the Patriots have 3 rings doesn't mean the Jets can't have the same management style...

I would have liked to see an 'old head' on the line for another year to bring on the younger guys.. the Oline have no mentor. Brick is being coached by Lomas .
Mangold was instrumental in our success last year , and some of that should be accredited to PK, taking some of the heat off him and generally being there.

I'm not going to judge until I see the finished product on the field. There could be trades and such in the works, or maybe they have seen things from Bender/Clarke or some other FA that we haven't. To early to tell how this will affect us going forward, many were screaming some of the same things when Mawae was let go. I prefer to wait and see. Besides, Kendall forced their hands here, he had to be moved and they waited until they got something for him...
