In this morning's Star-Ledger, under his "Who's Hot and Who's Not" section, Dave Hutchinson reports under "Who's Not" that "QB Chad Pennington looked sloppy in the afternoon practice, while QB Kellen Clemens continues to look sharp." Was anyone at camp yesterday afternoon? T-Bird?

After Friday night's performance, I was hoping Chad would be looking sharper at practice this week.

Sorry folks, try as I may, I could not find a link to this article. It appears this particular article is not online, but it does appear in print in the newspaper, under Hutch's player profile on LB Cody Spencer.

I saw a report on another board that said:

Also, during 7 on 7 drills, chad took over the first team offense from the 30 yd against the first team defense but couldn't do anything. he held onto the ball way too long, and didn't know where to go with it. this happened about 2 or 3 times and schotty yelled for clemens to come in. clemens looked much better and got them in for the score. After that, chad came back in and looked much better completing his signature short passes to move the chains. then clemens was with the 2nd team OFF vs 2nd team DEF. he threw a nice pass to TE ryan right over his shoulder for the would-be TD, but it was just off ryans finger tips as he dove into the endzone. it would have been a really nice catch. Later Revis broke up a pass by jumping infront of the reciever and swatting it down. he got some applause. later clemens threw a pick to CB #39 i believe.

BTW I was going to go to tc today, but the weather is looking pretty bad.

If anyone hears whether the practice will be indoors or outdoors, please let me know either way.

    Thanks

Its Chads job to lose. I trust this CS will do what it takes to win.

I wouldn't look to far into a sloppy preseason game where he threw passes for the 1st time and a sloppy day of practice, though. Seems to be a little too much of that around here.

If I remember correctly, Chad's contract now calls for a big bonus ahead of next season - what odds a trade to KC if Croyle/Huard/Whoever flops this year? Seems a sensible fit?

Thanks, Jetcane. I was looking for someone who was there to reply, and you da man! Was T-Bird there? I thought I read somewhere yesterday that he had intentions of going.

I've not heard about what they're doing with today's practice. It's pretty bad out there, so maybe they're over in the bubble.

For those of you who have been to camp, is this typical Shotty behavior?

I don't specifically recall seeing Schotty "yell" at anyone. He's not the yelling type. Again, my bad for not reading Jetcane's first sentence though, as this was not his report, so let's be clear on that (talking to myself mostly... LOL).

It's possible this poster is exagerating Schotty's behavior somewhat. It's an easy thing to do if you're at TC and getting excited about the season, but it's also something I've told myself I would not let happen when I write my TC reports, as I'm sure T-Bird, Jetcane, Kurt and others have done also.

For the most part, and having been to enough TC's over the past several years, I've found the TC reports I've read here to be consistently accurate and impeccable in terms of correct interpretation of the actual facts.

I try to be objective, but I am a fan, and i always get excited about the new season. So, sometimes my enthusiasm results in a rose-colored glasses view of things, especially towards the beginning of camp.

Last year when i did the reports, i put that disclaimer on my first report, but I figured since a lot of people have read my reports by now, they figured that out, LOL.

By the time tc ends, it pretty much equals out, and I see who is improving and who is not.

I am going to do a TC report card later this week, and I will try to be a fair grader. :eek:hmy:

I was at camp yesterday. This writeup really hits the nail on the head. Chad dropped back, bounced around for what seemed like an eternity before throwing the ball away. He did this a few times. He did complete a couple of dump offs and one or two 6-8 yard out patterns. When Clemens came in, he took a short drop and delivered a couple of really sharp looking balls, hitting his receivers in stride. He only had to throw it away once, which he did very quickly, throwing it out of bounds to the uprights.

    Thanks yanks9596.

Hutchinson's report about Chad looking "sloppy" yesterday is not exactly what I was looking to hear in lieu of Friday night's performance. Now there are apparently two camp bystanders able to confirm Hutchinson's evaluation too. Not exactly making my day.

About now, this has got to be getting inside Mangini's head to some degree also. I think we'll see a lot more of Clemens in the next two Preseason games.

i think the last game proved at least one thing.....I think Mangini has got to leave Chad in the game Sat as long as possible to determine if he is ready or not. I thought for sure we would hear good things out of camp this week, you kow the whole Chad, I am embarrassed by my performance thing......

but if he's still playing like crap after that performance.........yikes

I dunno what to think anymore............Chad scares me

    definitely in your dreams, haha.

i think Chad and Clemens should get equal playing time with/against the first teams this week; this way we can really compare them with only 3 weeks left until Week 1.

This really is not that far fetched. If you remember, last preseason, Chad did not throw 1 deep pass. Then, against Tenn, it was bombs away in week 1.

The thing is, Chad's a gamer. When it counts, he will step up.
