Is Chad 3rd or 4th on the depth Chart or am I just a troll? Heh heh, this thread is a great read. I already went through a bag of honey mustard pretzels. Methinks CP is still numero uno on the depth chart, but Clemens is gaining ground, which is great to see. Let him keep gaining ground and narrowing the gap until it's time to take the reins.
I don't really think I need to go off on a tirade as I have done before, but I'm just going to leave this: Chad is a bad quarterback, will never be anything better than average. His accuracy numbers are miscued and always have been because of his ridiculous number of dumpoff passes, and he just throws too many shouldn't-be interceptions because he thinks his arm is alot stronger than it really is (ie last night) I should put it back in my sig, "CHAD SUCKS"
brady also came back to throw for a touchdown pass and has all the confidence in the world from acquiring 3 super bowls. Can chad say the same?
o and also don't let the "high accuracy" thing fool you just like The Predator mentioned. Chad threw for like 64% but it was like 5-6 yards a pass or something. Brady, on the other hand, threw like the same percentage for like 7 yards a pass and when you think about it that is a very big difference
I am not a chad apologist by any stretch, but top twelve isn't all that bad: 1 P. Manning QB, IND 362 557 65.0 4397 7.89 68 31 5.6 9 1.6 14.0 86 101.0 2 D. Anyone here, for or against Chad, is kidding themselves if they are not the least bid concerned about his play. Even before last nights horrific showing he has made his shared of stupid plays over the last year. With a nerf ball in the wind kind of arm he has to overcome that with smart play. Not the stupid decisions he has been making of late.
What kind of merge is this? I log back on and you're merging my thread with anti Chad threads? The Mod squad needs to be reigned in, where is Captain Greer?
It was me and we don't need several Pennington threads all saying the same thing. This is now THE Pennington thread
you made the comment about personnel being the issue. the fact that its completely not the case as far as the skill players around him has a ton to do with your assessment. curtis is a HOF RB....coles is solid, and been that way his entire career (most of which has been in a jets uni). chrebet wasnt the greatest, but youll cause a revolt if you dont give the guy some credit. he was a solid reciever and a very good hands guy/go to guy before his head injuries. these were his main skill guys, and thats not bad at all. hes never had a great tight end, but how many are there around the league? he now has 2 solid WRs in coles and cotch, baker is a good TE and with TJ and leon the running game will be improved over last year. chads never been a guy that could beat you through the air. his career high for TDs is 22...which is good, but for what a lot of guys here think of him (as a top 10 QB) it isnt what you expect, or at least should expect, from a top flight QB. when were down by 10 points in the 4th qtr nobody is scared that pennington is going to get them. hes a smart QB, but his physical limitations have limited the team. reguardless of personal feelings (i really like chad) hes just not a guy thats going to get to the SB and carry anybody. he NEEDS big time guys around him and someone else that could carry the team. by all accounts, and by the numbers hes a middle of the pack QB even at his best.
People need to use their brains and realize it's quite obvious that we didn't want to use much of our playbook during a preseason game. If one actually payed attention during the game they'd realize every throw from Chad was towards the sidelines, absolutely nothing down the field. I don't know if these threads are serious or not I'm too lazy to read all of it but there's no need for this talk lol
Anyone read Rich cimini's blog post today, its like he read this forum and tried to answear some of Chads critics. Read- http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/jets/
This is the mistake I've seen from alot of people in this thread defending Pennington. Sure, it's only the preseason. Sure, it doesn't matter. But the issues people have with Pennington go back alot further then last nights game. The concerns about Pennington's arm strength have been well documented on here, they certainly didn't crop up out of one poor preseason performance.
I guess I have to agree with this. Merging a ton of threads into an unreadable 9-page monstrosity is the next thing to censorship. I don't see anyone merging all of the O-line and D-line threads.
Exactly. The thing is Chad had several bad games last year. And after each one it was "Guys, relax, it's only one game." Or, "It's okay, [insert team here] has a really good defense." Why does he always get a pass? It isn't just the preseason, and it isn't just one bad game. Pennington has proven to be a very average QB, and the backlash he's receiving right now stems from much more than just Friday's performance. To a certain extent, I remember Vinny being treated the same way. In 2000 it was, relax he's rusty because of the Achilles. 2001 it was relax, it's a new offense. Then by 2002 everybody realized it was just Vinny. I see Chad going down the same road right now. The question is, at what point is it just Chad?
I don't see it that way and I never saw Herm as a huge Pennington fan over his tenure, either. From what I saw, Hackett did what he could to make Carter effective, but it was Hackett that wasn't much in favor of Carter under center. I think Herm always wanted to 'put his mark' on the team early on and you could see it with his comments supporting Tory Woodbury in 2001 over Chad's 'over-thinking the position' comments throughout that year when Vinny was really stinking the place up. I can see this approach with the Chiefs this off-season with Herm and I think he felt that he was handcuffed with a 1st round QB that he could not get rid of while Hackett was pro-Pennington.
This is exactly why I don't usually bother starting threads on this board. I sincerly meant this to be an honest appraisal of our QB situation based on relative performance in preseason. Murrell has decided that's an anti Chad thread. Go figure.
If Herm was pro-Carter he certainly had a funny way of showing it. The burned TO at the end of regulation was 100% Hackett's fault as the audio we heard over and over after the game proved. As far as Hackett goes he was only ever interested in running "his" offense, even with Carter in there as opposed to Pennington. Now I understand you can't totally rehaul an offense mid season when your QB misses a couple games but it seemed like to me that they just threw Carter in there and wanted him to run the same offense the same way Pennington did.
wait a minute.. are you guys serious about the Jets having a better chance to win a playoff game with Quincy the crackhead at Qb? You guys can't be serious, can you?
