On CNN-SI they are showing the top 10 Defenders 25 and Under... ...and they leave off Kerry Rhodes! Sean Taylor makes the list, but not Rhodes, who was snubbed for the Pro Bowl last year, and now this list. They guy is close to, if not the best player at his position in the entire NFL!
Do you have the link to the article? I'm just curious to see who beat out Rhodes where he couldn't crack the top 10 at his age. It's a bullshit poll, nothing against your post, because they'll take a hard hitting safety that gets burned from time to time over a smart, agile player like Rhodes because Rhodes isn't as well known yet. I think it will change this year after Rhodes is repeatedly mentioned in articles as not being selected to a well deserved Pro-Bowl.
Rhdoes has to do it for another year before he really puts himself on the map. It comes with being a 4th rounder. No doubt if he was a 1st or second round pick with the same numbers he'd be a lot more noticed.
Meh. I'll save my daily fit of outrage. The day is still young, and I'm sure something better will come along.
nah, GreenGuy obviously misread it. it clearly says: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedia/photo_gallery/0708/nfl.defenders.under25/content.1.html
i dont buy that...if anything that would bring up hos name more as being one of the guys that slipped through the cracks and was a great value pick.
He wouldn't be snubbed if he wasn't on the Jets. Long time Jets fans have become accustomed to how the press feels about this team. I think they have never forgiven the fact we won SB 3.
Well you should buy it because thats the nature things in the nfl. If Kerry came out as a 1st rounder he would have had alot more hype surrounding him and anyone following the Draft would have seen a great deal of information about him. Being a 2nd day pick makes it much more difficult for the casual nfl watcher to know anything about him; and it doesn't help that he is on the jets.... How many 4th round safeties can you name. Can you name a 1st round safety?
If you go back to last season and check the stats, Rhodes numbers were more evenly distributed across the board when it comes to tkl, int, and sacks. Pro Bowl starter Ed Reed didn't even have a sack and reserve John Lynch's numbers in all 3 categories were less. How he was not named a reserve last season is beyond me. Lynch clearly was named a reserve based on a sucessful career to this point. On that note, I do believe Rhodes needs to have one more solid season. If he puts up numbers like he did last year, I think we will see him as a reserve at least in this years pro bowl.
