He probably wouldn't make the tackle, but I bet $50 that Moorman could cut him off if no one puts a block on him.
These ratings as a whole seem much lower... Also, I'm not impressed at all. I don't think they did that good of a job..
Yeah these ratings are pretty bad. I would say that I think about 35% of them are off by 4 points or more which is not good at all.
I absolutely agree. They did a TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE job this season with the ratings. Instead of having a bunch of nerds doing this shit they should higher some actual fans to help out with the ratings. Cuz these are, quite frankly, bullshit - they play the loyalty game too much, giving higher ratings to popular players and teams instead of actually watching some tape and rating them reasonably.
http://www.sportsgamer.com/games/madden08/roster/team/Bengals/ They trumped ign and released everything.. ratings.. playbooks. Just replace the team name.
I think Imma rent it before i buy....very disappointed in last years game. Even though i got use to it
Here are some of my initial feelings : Let me first off say this is the first madden next gen game which I really like. It feels like current gen(positive). The controls are tight, the 60 fps makes everything responsive. The crowd gets into it And doesnt jump all game. From watching vids on IGN I felt it was the same ol game but actually playing it, there is a difference on the field. The radio announcer is annoying at times but manageable. I turned him off and just pumped up the crowd volume. The passing game like NCAA will lean towards INT's when thrown in poor coverage. Unlike NCAA there is momentum in this game (not as much as their should be). The fumbles can be annoying, its not a game killer but it needs a slight tweak of the sliders. The animations in this game are really a lot smoother then NCAA. Plax made a nice spectacular catch by using his 6'5" frame to shield off the DB. The celebrations are cool, team specific celebrations such as the Giants Ballin was really cool. The gang tackles are way better then in NCAA. Ive seen 3 men gang tackles which looked great, and I felt they were more momentum based unlike NCAA. The gangtackles in this game work and function better then NCAA. Overall the animations are ten times better then NCAA and more responsive and fluid. You can play w/ mini games online which is a great plus to me. Those are 40 yd dash, bench press, rb chanllenge, QB challenge, db challenge. The kicking game is way too overpowered. As soon as you get the game lower the user and cpu Kick, FG and punt power to 15 and that fixes that bug. Me and my friend kicked off every kickoff in our first game out the back of the endzone. Pocket is still nonexistant at times but other times I feel like I can step up and throw. The weapons system is a pretty good idea. WR's like Harrison who have spectacular catch and hands can make harder catches and have different animations from regular WR's. The smart weapon is a welcome addition to me. The days of your opponent calling the same play over and over will be gone. As you play a lightbulb icon under the player fills up the more he sees the same play. Smart LB's can read RB assignments, CB's read the WR's and Safeties read the field. On offense Qb's like Manning and Brady can read the D when the bulb fills up. After it fills up you hit RT and LB and the bulb goes empty and you have to fill it up again. Other Weapons are mostly there to let you know who can do what. The o-line play is a lot better as well. You will get the occassional sack in less then a second but it is better. There is double team blocking, blockers look to get to the next level. When RB's run behind the line they either look for a crack to squeeze through or put their hands on the o-linemen's back (eliminates mario running). In the passing game you can put great touch on the ball unlike NCAA. Lobbing the ball with Peyton manning in this game is a work of art. You can use that plus the left stick to guide passes. The game plays so that it is easier to deliver from outside the pocket. Visually the game looks great. The background is blurred out which I actually like how its used. Player models actually look like humans instead of the superhuman HGH football players previously seen in next gen madden. Jerseys look a little like plastic though. You can edit ratings, equipment, no.'s and personal info this year. Franchise mode allows you to do a fantasy draft w/ or w/o HOF players. I havent got much into superstar but you can use existing rookies this time around. Overall this is a good game w/ the solid gameplay I have wanted for some time w/ EA. This truely is the first next gen madden. If I rated it now I would rate it about an 8.75. Thats all for now, anything bad or good I see I let you know, Any other questions just ask edit: the Jets wear green socks w/ their uni's, in the game they wear white
nice writeup, thanks. It sounds like they finally made significant improvements to the game. Can you explain a little more what the weapons system is?
The weapon system is a system which is supposed to differentiate the top guys from the regular ones. Some weapons are just indication of a players attributes like speed burner, big leg, shutdown cb, accurate QB, hands, stiff arm runner, run crushing blocker, pass protector, brick wall defender, big hitter etc... But others like Smart QB/LB/DB/S, Possession, Spectacular catch give the player abilities to make plays that an avg player can not. I.E. I had Brad Smith try to make a toe drag inbounds but he struggled and could not get the second foot down, a guy like Marvin Harrison its like second nature to him. He operates better on sideline catches and is more aware. Spectacular catch guys like Roy Williams make the fancy grabs and tough catches.A guy like Houshmanzadah who is a possession guy makes the catches in traffic and takes the hit and holds on. And smart QB/S/DB/LB abilities which I explained earlier. Its a nice addition to let the stars shine
Sounds like they expanded the "role" system of last year to actually have an impact in the game. Cool. Would you agree that this game is the first in a while that has significant improvements over the past couple of years? This is the impression I got from your write up.
Yea it definitely is an improvement. The game still has its share of flaws but the producers at EA finally took their heads out their a## and made a playable next gen game
Looking forward to picking it up. Do they give teams alternate uniform options? Have you tried putting Brad Smith in at QB?
They do have alt uni's and you cant put Smith at QB. For the Jets they have there classic uni's and there green on green
That sucks that you can't put Brad Smith in at QB. You should be able to put in any player at any position. If you prefer Champ Bailey as a WR, you should be able to do that. What's the harm?
Cause then people get ridiuclous online, and it becomes a big Joke of a game.. Since this is suppose to be sim, when is the last time He played at wr....
