Once again you advertise that the Jets pre-season game will be shown at 11PM, and once again you show some BS instead. Last year was billiards, this year we get the Mike Utley story. Not only did you not show the Jets pre-season game again, this time you even CUTOFF THE PRESEASON GAME HIGHLIGHTS YOU WERE SHOWING TO CUT TO THIS BULLSHIT SHOW THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH NEW YORK SPORTS. Blow me SNY. </rant>
Absolute crap. I live in the Albany area, and at the beginning of the week, my channel guide said The CW was going to carry the game live. Great, I thought. This morning they change the programming to Seinfield and wrestling. OK, I still get the replay on SNY right? Wrong. Bogus fluff piece. They will be hearing from me, this is unacceptable.
Game just started on SNY Not sure what you are bitching about . . . but the game is on my SNY right now.
i'm also in albany and no, the game is not being shown. Irene Utley has some really nice things to say about her son though.
Actually it did. You get it if you live in the NYC area. Not getting it elsewhere is a NFL rule. You have NYc time warner? Didn't think so.
Here's the reason....Blame it on the NFL Q: Why does some programming get blacked out in my area? A: Because of different league and college conference rules, SNY's broadcast rights for certain games do not always extend to SNY's entire broadcast territory. For example, the Jets broadcast territory, per NFL rules, only extends in a 75-mile radius from the Meadowlands. Unfortunately, SNY's broadcast territory is much larger and we must blackout Jets preseason games in markets that fall outside of the 75 mile radius. Another example involves UCONN and Syracuse University football and basketball games. In some cases with games involving either of these teams, conflicting broadcast rights are held by local stations in specific regional areas and SNY is required to black out certain areas to comply with these agreements. Blackout markets will receive alternate programming, however, it is up to each cable and satellite provider to update their local channel listings and interactive tv guides to reflect the substitute programming.
I found this on the SNY site last night after I posted my rant. Two things: 1) I can't begin to think of a reason how it benifits the league in any way, shape or form to blackout any preseason game. 2) Time warner needs to fix their damn channel guide so as to not get peoples hopes up. Hopefully David comes through with the bit torrent of the game. Can someone shed some light on why the NFL would do this? Is there anyway to get the message to the NFL that fans want to see these games?
Also, the NFL requires at least 1 hour between the end of the game and a rebroadcast... of course, NFL Network is exempt from this rule
the country is split up into regions. each team stakes their claim. perhaps you have drifted into bills territory or something? I dont know where youare. its not the NFL per se its the teams "defending their turf"...I know you hate me and I think your posts are retarded, but I figured Id help you out. by the way, this little rant of yours certainly did not do anything to improve my opinion of your posts
Why would the Bills care if I watched the Jets preseason game? It's not like I'm going to care more about the Bills if their game is on TV instead of the Jets. I guess my point is that people who are watching preseason games are probably die hard fans. The Bills are a much further drive than the Jets.
