Call me crazy, but from what I've seen of him this kid looks like the real deal. Does anyone know what sort of measurables he boasts? He looks fast, appears to run smooth routes and shows terrific hands. He looks like a legitimate WR. Anyone know if he is a vertical threat? Any info would be great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, last night, he got alot of short passes thrown his way and he turned them into decent gains. Right now he is probably a 4th or 5th WR but maybe he could develop into a decent slot receiver some where down the line.

He did play in 5 regular season games last year and made a contribution on special teams.

It depends where they fit Brad Smith in. It doesn't hurt Wright that Stuckey and J-Mac are having a good preseason.

    1. Coles
    2. Cotchery
    3. J-Mac
    4. Smith?
    5. Stuckey

Any chance that Smith beats out Tui for the #3 QB spot?

I'm starting to wonder if that's why Mangini has been trying Smith more at QB.

Yep, and he had a couple of nice plays on ST last night, too.

He's been doing really well on ST in tc, and has looked good as a WR, too.

We are loaded at WR, and someone is going to have to make a tough decision when it comes to WW, Stuckey, Fris, and Smith. This is where they are going to have to juggle. If you keep Smith as a WR, one of those other guys might have to go. If you keep him as a QB, then you can cut Tui and possibly keep WW, Stuckey AND Frisman.

Even if you put Smith as a QB, do we really need 7 WRs?

I'd keep Stuckey and Wright on board, and part ways with Frisman.

Frisman has really good size and could help us in goal line situations. I think after last night we should keep them all.

Would you cut Tui and have only clemens and Smith backing up?

Would you cut Pocisak or Kowalseksi to make room?

Cutting Schlegel and Kimo would make some room...

I would because Tuiasosucko is awful. If he had to receive extended meaningful playing time this season (meaning both Pennington and Clemens got hurt), the season would be over anyway.

Smith can run the scout team in practices. Clemens could hold the clipboard during games.

There actually have been several teams in recent seasons who have only carried two true QBs on their roster.

I would cut Tui and go with Brad.

I would cut Kimo and Schlegle (unfortunately)

I would probably practice squad Pociask, he blocks too well to lose, but is probably a year away.

Agreed 100%. The Jets gain no benefit from Tui ever touching the field during the regular season. We may as well have Brooks Bollinger back. Keeping Brad Smith as the emergency QB allows us to keep someone like Wallace Wright on the team... someone who would make a more significant impact not only on ST, but on the field if it ever got to the point where he needed to play.

Smith would have to be the backup Qb, because the 3rd string qb is not an ctive player, and he plays on special teams and wr, So if something happened to chad(even for a quater) smith would have to play qb ..so mangini would have to b e very comfertable with him at qb

I think that is gong to happen and that smith will be listed on gameays as the backup QB so he can play STs conserving another roster spot.

wright is one of our best gunners along with smith.. he will make this team on special teams alone. the fact he i s imrpoving as a wr is bonus.

by the way could we have another willie parker thing going on here. another UDFA Tar Heel developing well under some real coachng.
