Hey devil, just out of curiousity, I was looking at your sig, and wondering how many starts Matsuzaka has had. Basically, the reason being, I was curious just how many Ks per game he's averaging. I was thinking it's probably in the neighborhood of 30 starts, giving him an average of like 5 Ks a game.
He's made 23 starts, giving him an average of 6.6 Ks per start, and he's averaging 9.1 K/9 innings (152 K in 151 IP). He is currently 6th in MLB in K's.
Holy shit! I thought the numbers were impressive to begin with! Very impressive that he's gotten the decision in almost every start as well. He goes deep every game doesn't he? I just love how so many people said the Sox overpaid for Matsuzaka, while the Yankees got a steal with Igawa. Ummm, no.
Between him and Wakefield there are a total of TWO no decisions. Both of them have eaten up innings this year, and both of them have turned in quality innings. A win tonight would tie Matsuzaka for the league lead. I know wins aren't a great measure of a pitcher, but that's still pretty impressive to me. He also has an ERA+ of 123. I have been very impressed with him so far, and I can't see any way he isn't ROY. For all the experience in Japan, he's still a 26 year old major league rookie, and is performing much better than most 26 year old rookies.
So I don't really see a big discussion about Red Sox/O's, which is strange because Sox fans have been doing a lot of talking this season. Now, mind you, the Sox are a fine team, best ML record and all that, but Sox fans shouldn't go a whole season without a little grief. So......Sox/O's discussion. I'll start. Ummmm, Eric Gagne. See? We're discussing. Isn't this fun? Go Mets!!!
