We keep gaining ground on somebody every day so life is good now. You have to feel the Yankees did better then anybody at the trading deadline now by doing nothing. They got rid of Myers, Bruney(I guess) and Cairo(DL) and added Giambi, Hughes, Chamberlain, Brower and Ramirez. So they turned over their BP, added a quality starter and big bat and it cost them nothing.

Which is by far one of the most stupid stances in the history of the organization. If a guy (in this case two,) are critical to your team, you extend them, end of story.

What happens when Captain Jeter's contract comes to its expiration date? Does he have to wait too? That should go over really well.

    1) Well, hopefully he's just keeping the roster spot warm for Chamberlain.

    2) Like Yis said, it was just hillarious that she had just extolled his greatness, and then he got lit up. Literally as she was saying her last word.

    3) He was saying it would be easy to win games with pitching if the Yankees could just clone Mariano Rivera 10 times, but Cashman won't listen to him. Sterling is a total idiot, utter and complete.

I never realized that Namath was drafted by the Yankees, Mets, Indians, Reds, Pirates, and Phillies. I also never knew that as good as he was in Baseball he was just as good in basketball and probably could have gone on to play that at the pro level too.

terrific, but that isn't measuring the true quality of a player's performance.

that's why W/L record for a pitcher is so overrated.

if you measure how well a player ACTUALLY did, then you're able to make a decision on the player's value to the team.
If you have a pitcher who wins games but gets shelled, he'll probably do pretty poorly if his lineup and bullpen were to be weaker.

John Elway was drafted by the Yankees too.

Interestingly, when Pettitte was pitching better, he was given shoddy run support and poor pen performance. That's probably the thing I love about baseball the most. There's so many games that it truly tells you the worth of every individual to the team over the course of a season.

I remember Elway and I remember he would have played for the Yankees too if Baltimore didn't trade his rights to Denver a couple months after the draft. He would have done that while sitting out a year. Who knows maybe he would have stayed with the Yankees at that point.

The Yankees have optioned Bruney to the minors to bring up Joba and have DFA Cairo to bring Giambi back.

Ok, it's official now. Bruney went back down and Cairo was DFA...shame about Cairo. Chamberlain has the same legs as Clemens. Hopefully that carries over.

Whoa, his slider is brutal.....it looks like a 12 to 6 94 mph curveball.

i thought that was gone, thankfully it fell just short of the wall in left.

Joba is huge, can't wait to see him in action tonight.

    A-Rod gets what he deserves

Good, it is about time that this happens. Thrown at yesterday and hit today, that's almost enough.

If this game gets out of hand score-wise I say they put a scrub reliever in there and have him throw one high at him.

Pah....Stairs would have put that pretty boy cunt into next week....and if you've ever seen a non-NHL hockey you'd know how it works up here...you don't start shit and then not deal with the consequences.

I don't know what happened to bring A-rod off of first again....but I will tell you one thing, those fans sitting behind the plate are a shame....forget home field advantage when the people sitting there are fat fifty-somethings with their wives and with no beers in their hands....they should be rowdy jerkoffs making offside comments like the ones Piazza faced at Yankee Stadium and A-Rod got in Boston

I <3 Shelly Duncan. He just took out MacDonald at 2nd base, love the grittiness of the Yankees now.
