Two of the most pathetic attempts by a left fielder that I have ever see at this level. Luckily he made one of them, the other cost us the lead. And we have him two more years after this one. He can't play center, he can't play left and he sucks as the DH. He's untradable to boot. Another brilliant deal by Cashman.
Damon is a total liability. And here I am always saying "Well, he can fill in to give guys a rest in the outfield." Guess not. Sad when a player is so poor defensively it makes me nostalgic for Bernie Williams.
We are in trouble in this game. We aren't going to get many if any more runs off this guy. Maybe we can get his pitch count up.
I have to chime in about Sterling as well. He's just awful. Sterling and Waldman could be the worst radio booth ever. Sterling frequently gets basic things wrong. If he doesn't actually manually check the count himself, he'll get that wrong as well (that's why he sometimes hesitates before he says it). He frequently gets the umpire's call wrong because he doesn't know the difference between a ball and a strike. Then when he gets it wrong, he blames it on the ump not having a clear motion or something. But when it happens EVERY GAME with EVERY HOME PLATE UMPIRE THERE IS, whose fault is it? I've read people complaining about Kay thinking balls are going out when they aren't. Sterling is worse. Just last week on Thursday (I think), there was a fly ball by Betemit. Sterling started yelling "IT IS HIGH! IT IS FAR!" as if the ball was going to land 600 feet away. Of course, it was caught. It's not just that he's wrong. It's HOW wrong. At least with Kay you can see for yourself. People listening on the radio are at Sterling's mercy. Yeah, yeah, I know. I shouldn't listen if I don't like him. But if that's the only baseball on, what am I supposed to do? I don't have the YES network, and I listen to the radio a lot more than I watch TV anyway.
Yanks need to start capitolizing when they get guys on base...Toronto is doing it and because of it, they have 3 runs
My wife says after every home run we hear on radio games "I swear I thought he was going to say IT IS HIGH, IT IS FAR, IT IS...caught." Holy COW, do I...
Heh, Waldman was barely done talking about how great this dude's ERA is, when Matsui loops a hit. Nice job Suzyn.
Wow, this team is really starting to scare me. I can't let myself fall into the impressed and happy trap though.
