8/6 1PM A. Pettitte vs J. Litsch 8/7 7PM R. Clemens vs. J. Towers 8/8 7PM C. Wang vs. R. Halladay Let's keep the train rolling, 5-1 in the Soss Series, naturally I attended that one debacle loss.
I think Clemens will pitch great this time. He had to have been totally embarrassed by his last start and now he's pitching in Toronto where he won back to back Cy Youngs.
Hope this is correct but it is the Post..if it is, it's my guess they waited until today so he doesn't have to face the NY media until he has a few days to get use to things at this level. http://www.nypost.com/seven/0806200...es_michael_morrissey______and_george_king.htm August 6, 2007 -- Yankees fans are dying to see Joba Chamberlain pitch, but Joe Torre would simply like to meet the young man first. He'll get that chance today. After yesterday's game, Mike Myers was designated for assignment and did not make the trip to Toronto. Chamberlain will be there and will be activated in time for this afternoon's game. Here's an interview he did two weeks ago. He has 4 pitches, two more then I thought. http://www.projectprospect.com/joba-chamberlain-interview/
We have 7 tough series starting today. If we could just win the 5 three game series and split the two 4 game series with Detroit that would give us a 14-9 record when they are done. I'm pretty sure that would leave us in first place in the WC at the end of the month. On July 7th we were 9 1/2 back in the WC race so I guess that says something about how everybody else has been playing.
Is it my imagination or do the Yankees really play Baltimore, Kansas City and Toronto 80 times a year?
Imagination and for the record Toronto and Baltimore are playing better right now than 75% of NL teams I would say.
@Baltimore: 9 @KC: 7 @Toronto: 9 Baltimore: 9 KC: 3 Toronto: 10 So 47 games against those 3 teams. While it's not half the schedule, 3 teams should not encompass almost a third of the schedule. Add in 19 against Boston, and another 19 against Tampa Bay, and 87 games are against 5 teams. I hate unbalanced schedules.
So that other guy wasn't called up? Who do the Yankees think they are with the information dissemination? The Jets? Good to hear though. I can't wait to see what this kid can do. Probably a good idea not to throw him into the fire in Yankee Stadium for his first appearance. Who knows what his nerves will be like?
So, who was it that insisted it would take 95 wins for the WC this year? For that to happen now somebody would have to go 34-17 over the remainder of the season in the AL. A .667 clip. Even more in the NL. As the best record in the game right now is Boston at .613, I hardly see that happening. It may not even take 90 games this year.
Yeah, that was one of the arguments against bringing him up. The book is that he has a plus-plus fastball and a plus-plus slider. He's been working on the curve and change this year, and supposedly they're good, but still developing. By moving him to the pen for the rest of this year, they're cutting short his development of those pitches, which he will need as a starter next year. I still like the move, though, since he was near his innings limit anyhow. He wouldn't have gotten too much more work in on them.
i cant wait to see joba pitch as a yankee.. i hope the yanks take 2 outta 3.. blue jays have been scorching lately.. but so have the yanks.. i want 2 outta 3.. but ima be dissapointed if we lose any games..
All four top teams in the AL east have been playing great ball lately. Which is why these next 23 games are going to be so tough. There are no breaks.
That figures..the F***ing Post got it wrong again. It is Brower that is up and not Chamberlain. He better be good because I don't see how they are going to clear another spot on the 40 man roster now. I guess they could if they DFA Cairo to make room for Giambi who already has a spot. That would open one.
Is anyone else listening to Sterling make a total douchebag out of himself today? (More than usual...)
