I repeat my post from earlier regarding Chamberlain and Myers...how much longer is Cashman going to let Torre get away with using him?

Detroit is about to lose. Could be 1/2 back later, or a game back of Seattle and 6 behind Boston depending how that game goes.

    Over.

Whats going on with the Tigers? Oh well, I like it! Indians are down 1-0 in the 7th, but that could change quickly.

Things start getting a lot harder after today. 23 tough games coming up. If we can go 14-9, I would be thrilled. Even 13-10 would be ok.

And Torre still leaves Myers in. He probably wants it close enough so Rivera can get a save. (Which he just did)

You can't feel too comfortable with this bullpen. When the playoffs come around the Yankees could be swept 3-0 if the pen plays like this. A win is a win though. Sweep baby!

Detroit is 1-9 over their last 10. We have 8 games with them coming up over the next 3 weeks. I hope they keep playing like that then.

Happy day! Peter Abraham is reporting that Myers has been DFA'd. It's like Cashman is reading my miiiind, duuuuude.

ETA: Except they're calling up Jim Brower? Who the hell is that?!

    now who gets called up?

Joba Chamberlain? (i dont think he has a passport)
Ross Ohlendorf? (he's been pitching out of the pen very effectivly also)

    Someone else?

On a side note, it looks like Cashman ROBBED Arizona in the RJ trade. Unit is out for the season, probably career, and Vizcaino has been lights out since late may/early june. Ohlendorf has been lights out lately from the 'pen.

screw Giambi.. The team has chemistry now. Torre better not do a repeat of Sheff last season.

Melky better stay in center. Andy Phillips should still be the primary 1B.

    C: Jorge Posada
    1B: Andy Phillips
    2B: Robby Cano
    3B: Alex Rodriguez
    SS: Derek Jeter
    LF: Hideki Matsui
    CF: Melky Cabrera
    RF: Bobby Abreu

    DH: Johnny Damon/Jason Giambi

Have Damon play all 3 OF positions on occasion to give the others a day off, and split time at DH with Giambi. When Giambi DHs, Melky will have to hit leadoff, unless Damon takes a corner OF spot.

When Damon DHs, Giambi rides the bench or gets the rare start at 1B. Damon hits leadoff and hopefully performs.

But they're reporting that Jim Brower is getting the callup. This makes no sense.

I think I might rather have Betemit as the everyday 1B, too.

Wow..fantastic..I was wondering if that might happen when Torre used him much longer then I ever saw him used before. I was thinking..maybe he's just trying to use him up before dumping him. Hopefully this is to add Chamberlain now.

Jim Brower is a rightie so it really makes no sense but he does have a good record.

    In 35 games at Scranton he's 4-1, 1.65ERA with 20 saves, 43.2 innings, 39 hits, 8 runs, 11 walks, 40 SOs

    Good but he's no Chamberlain

It takes 3-4 hours to get a passport in an emergency..why doesn't he?

I did read Giambi will rejoin the team today but not be activated immediately.

Goodbye Myers!!!! Maybe yesterday was "the last straw." Not that there wasn't a clear body of evidence already, but fine, he's done in pinstripes, and that's important right now.

Who is Brower? Why are we hearing names we don't know? The only thing I can think of is that they're using someone who can easily be optioned back when Giambi is ready to return. Joe claims Giambi should be returning during the road trip, and quite possibly in Toronto. May as well get him back up right away, IMO. The longer he's back up here, the less chance he has to be this year's Sheff.

We have to keep up the pace though. Toronto is harder than the past couple series, but still a team we should take the series from. It doesn't matter who we play though, we need to win every series at this point. No excuses that they are the good teams now. The fact is, these are the same teams we need to be able to beat in the Fall, or none of these wins matter anyway.

    Come on Yanks!
