But Bonds never tested positive.... So in reality MLB had no rules or testing for these things and MLB knowingly let these players do whatever they needed to get fans through the turnstiles. So shouldnt everyone be mad at Bud Selig and not Barry US Bonds? I think so . If your boss said yall needed to be more productive and offered free coffee and Soda wouldnt this be the same. While after producing those numbers the same boss now made any sort of caffine illegal ? Its the same thing as what baseball did...
I have to agree. Although I'll never respect Bonds' record, you can't make him the scapegoat for this era. We have no idea how many players were juicing during the era; for all we know, even players whom are currently deemed clean such as Mike Piazza and A-Rod may have done them. We don't know what percentage of the players actually used them, nor will we probably ever. It's terrible, because as a sports fan and someone who plays a few sports at college, it kills me to think that such a huge percentage of a sport could have been cheating to get an edge while truly extraordinary, clean players now look almost average in comparison for their adherence to the rules. However, we can't blame Bonds for this. Bonds is a tool, as are anyone else who used the substances to match their fellow cheaters rather than speak out about it. This whole mess truly is Selig's fault, as well as that of the rest of the MLB FO.
Congratulations Barry Bonds! Get the next one and get this over with. I find it completely unfair that he gets 100% of the blame or the abuse for the steroids era. All of the players should get 33% of the blame for doing it, MLB and the owners should take 33% for profiting from it and the fans should get 33% for going and cheering during the era. I'll take the last 1% of the blame just because I'm a nice guy
I watched 9 innings of the game tonight. bonds pulled in the 7th. 2-1 nationals in the 10th. bonds went 0 for 3 with a walk rookie went right after bonds in the last AB and Bonds just missed a fastball over the middle at the letters
Bonds just hit 756. I missed it. I wanted to watch it but my friend said he's going to sleep early. Oh well. Just adds to the worst night of the year.
 I just heard that on the radio and was about to post that. They're like "A guy in a Mets uniform has the ball! The only way it'd be worse would be if a Dodgers fan caught it."
A Mets fan gets the ball...A Yankees fan with an ARod jersey was rows behind...Some fat ass slob in some orange shirt jumped on the pile, that was hilarious. Now...Do Giants tickets fall worse than the DOW on a bad day? And does Mike Bascik(sp)? every shake this.
Thankfully we won't have to see him put on a major league uniform after this season. He might as well retire tonight.
wow. i was flipping through the channels, came to espn right as bonds came up and figured what the hell,i'll watch. very classy of Hank to leave that message. I'm not a Bonds fan,but it's still an acomplishment, steroids or not.
I thought the ceremony was nice. Hank was very classy with that message. I can't wait till the day that this record gets broken.
He's only 82 hits away from 3000...I think he wants to go to an AL contender to DH and maybe win a ring... Anaheim.
Hey, but he's all about himself. He could get $10-12 million from Anaheim to play 100 games? As a DH and be on a team who could win the Pennant. We all know he has the money and fame, good or bad...But I wouldn't be surprised to see Barry in Anaheim.
