I have mlb.tv, but there are "other" ways to watch Yankee games.

If you read everything Boras had to say yesterday, there are some quotes in the Post and News, it really sounds like Arod wants to stay with the Yankees. One reporter even said he has a new page for his Arod book when he starts negotiations with teams and Boras replied, "If there even is a book". Later he said "If Arod decides he wants to opt out, then we will talk".

Hopefully this isn't just wishful thinking.

Pretty amazing that even after a relatively horrible week he still leads the league in HRs, RBIs, Rs, SLG and OPS.

Another chance for a sweep. Maybe we pull it off this time.

We better this time, we can't blow the last game against a team like the Royals. They have the better pitcher going today but we banged around Meche in KC and should be able to do so at home.

Congrats to ARod on his 500th. As long as he doent' opt out we should see 600, 700 and maybe 800 in a Yankee uniform.

by the way, how awful was Singleton's call? I like ken but he did an abysmal job w/ that historic call.

But I thought the Yankees out-Borased Boras and told Arod's camp that the Yankees would not negotiate with Arod after the season? Something about giving Arod two weeks to sign with the Yankees?

Yeah..no kidding, as much as I don't like Kay because he makes everything seem like a HR even when it's a pop fly, Singleton was terrible.

    .760 since the break

No. They said they won't negotiate if he opts out of his contract. He has until 10 days after the end of the WS to make that decision, plenty of time to do a new deal before he would opt out. Even longer if the Yankees aren't in the WS.

I was kind of surprised that Boras took a red-eye out of California to be here yesterday anyway. Who knows, but I think there must have been something else to discuss anyway. If he just wanted to see Arod hit his 500th he could have been here all week.

Watching Hughes live is fun knowing what he means to this franchise. Even after a so-so start, everyone gives him a hand.

Oh, and it was really loud when A-Rod hit no. 500. I couldn't see the ball. I knew it was close to the pole, but it was really high barely saw it land. Fun moment though. I'll never forget it.

If he stays and stays healthy there is an excellent chance that could come in the first year of the new stadium which would really be great.

I actually missed the HR (figures,) and didn't get to see any of Hughes time on the mound. (I was on my way to Jersey to visit some family, so I was listening, but I still missed the homer.)

I did just watch it on the Yankees' web site though. A few thoughts:

    1) It is a tragedy that Ken Singleton made that call. I despise Kay more than Ken, but I would have MUCH rather heard Kay make that call. Terrible.

    2) Alex looked not just relieved, but ecstatic when that ball cleared the fence. Great to see that monkey off his back.

    3) Just when he was getting to home, he pointed to the crowd, in a "Thanks, that's for you!" manner. He followed that up with his best reaction on a curtain call yet. He's a different ARod than he was at the start of the year. If he comes back, and has an off-season next year, anyone who boos him deserves a total ass kicking. He's been the epitome of class lately, even after the way he was treated.

    4) Who was the first person to greet him at home plate? Derek Jeter. Fine, it's understandable since he was already there, but they hugged at home, and it looked truly sincere. The stories of their personal war may just have been as exaggerated as both of them have been saying for years.
    --------------------------

Now please Yanks, get out there and get the sweep. This is critical. The tough games are about to start. We need to roll on through the rest of the year. Again, consistency. If these bats continue to hit like this...
