Since I know all of you only base your player evaluations according to their Madden ratings. Ty Law is a 98!!! Ha. via this thread: http://www.sportsgamer.com/forums/madden-general-talk/181903-official-ratings-question-thread-2.html Vilma 95 K Rhodes 94 Coles 91 Mangold 89 T-Jones 88 S. Ellis 88 Ferguson 87 Von Oelhoffen 80 over 60 spd Robertson 86 over 64 speed Pouha 70 over 62 spd Dyson 84 over 94 spd Revis 82 over 89 spd Miller 76 over 98 spd Poteat 76 over 88 speed Barret 75 over 87 spd
haha, no one will ever let that Ty Law thing die. whatever happened to that kid anyway? nice to see Rhodes getting the recognition he deserves; i think in '07 he was rated like a 79 or something around there. cheers
Where did you see those in the thread? I shot through it twice and didn't see the Jets players rated anywhere. I didn't even see any Jets players named.
He just linked the wrong thread on the site. Go to the ratings one. It is there. My biggest question is Can you wear the Titans alternate jersey in the game?
If anyone likes playing with the classics such as Wesley Walker, Don Maynard, Boozer, etc, check out http://www.2ksports.com/games/football2k8/ . It's based on the 'nfl2k' series of games that was unceremoniously dropped once Madden selfishly bought out the NFL license. But it is a great game. You essentially put together a team of NFL legends... you can have Marino throwing to Maynard, and Barry Sanders or Walter Payton getting tackled by Mike Singletary... and it's mainly an online-based game. The great thing about it is that the team is what you make of it. Everyone gets a relatively balanced team if they know what theyre doing... you don't get a penalty for being a Lions fan and playing with your home town team Well worth it, imo. -Chris Rex
89 speed for revis? the guy ran a 4.3 at his pro day. he's no justin miller, but he defenitely deserves at least 92. miller with 98 speed is pretty cool though. vilma is a bit overrated. rhodes at 94ovr is amazing, he doesn't have a weapon though. and they pretty much nailed mangold's rating.
Dam, Dyson should have been a 86. How is Barrett only a 75 ovr? Also, I can't believe Revis got only a 89 speed while Leon Hall got a 92. I would like to see the ratings for Bryan Thomas and K. Coleman.
I'm pretty sure the NFL was the one that wanted to do the exclusive license and it's been bad for the Madden game to date as they don't seem to have put much into it in recent years. Hopefully this years version is a new engine. Don't go out and buy that nfl2k game without renting it first. It has some nice features that I'd like to see in Madden but the gameplay just feels "clunky" like you don't have enough control over what you're doing IMO. It's a good game, but I prefer Madden by far.
Is there any way to resurrect that "We need to bring in Ty Law because he is a 98 in Madden" thread? I feel like having a laugh at that again!
EA was the one who made the overtures for the license... then overpaid for it. The NFL doesnt care where the money is coming from. As for gameplay we'll have to agree to disagree. I have found the nfl2k series to be far more comfortable in both ball control and cheese control... very few 'cheap money plays' to be found (ie- the 95 yard Vick TD passes over and over)
95 yd vick td passes i dk what your talking about this isnt madden 03 anymore. There really arent any cheap plays
There were things I liked about the game. 1) Like you say, no money plays, the computer is much smarter and it's more difficult to manifest long drives or break off huge gains on a regular basis. You have to be smart about mixing up play calling on both sides of the ball and especially when reading a defense when passing. 2) The halftime show and post-game show with instant replays from the game is very cool although they need to work on the commentating and actually show all the scores! 3) The stadiums are pretty cool. 4) Players make mistakes - receivers dropping balls, QB misthrowing a pass, things like that that you don't see in madden as often. What I didn't like was that I felt like the controller wasn't reacting to my controls at all or not in time. I had John Elway on my team and couldn't outrun an interior d-lineman if my life depended on it. Barry Sanders was chased down from behind by a linebacker on many occasions. These things are unrealistic. That's what I meant by clunky. The graphics do leave something to be desired, but that's expected being it's their first football game for the next generation systems. The game is a bit buggy. The replay system says one thing and does another. The don't give you an untimed down all the time when they're supposed to. I'm sure there were a couple of others that upset me.
Without requoting the entire list, I must say that it was a well thought out, fair assessment. ps- those QB misthrows have caused me many a migraine while playing online ;-) Did you get it for 360 or ps3?
at first, when i heard about the game, it said something about post-game interviews...they probaly took it out tho...they need to make a football game like this with better graphics, and more off-field things, and a superstar mode...and i know madden has the rights, but i want to be able to use current nfl players too.........................
I rented it for 360. One more thing I forgot to mention was the gang tackling was top notch. I hope madden does it as well.
