Interesting but what I get out of that is that only Goldman and Chambers want to sell it. Could be the Yankees take total control of it. Their share alone would just about pay for the new stadium outright if it does get sold. Wonder how much the Yankees would be worth then.

If they ever did sell the team, which I think will never happen, about the only two people I can thik of who I would want to buy it would be Trump or Cuban. Self absorbed madmen who would probably be just like George and spend whatever was necessary to keep the team successful.

The guy that would be the even money favorite though...........Dolan. The father. He's always wanted them. It's probably kept him from making other moves. He's lurking, like a shark that smells blood.

They should sell it to the fake Steinbrenner from Bronx Is Burning. That would be fun.

Which is why I am happy to hear Hal is taking the reigns. Hopefully he respects his father enough to never take a deal from Dolan.

I am drooling at the thought of Dolan owning the Yankees.

I sure as hell hope so, Dolan is like the mold that kills the tree. They ruined basketball in NY (until Ratner moves to BK) and prevented football from coming to NYC. Hal decides to sell which I hope he doesn't, I hope Dolan is told not to bother to bid and the buyer is aware Dolan is not allowed any where close to the team

Well, you can't stipulate that. That's why I hope Hal just hangs on to the team, and passes it down within the family. A different buyer could be bought by Dolan. Only "principle" prevents Dolan from owning the Yankees, he's got the money to buy them at any price.

Yankee fans should chip in and buy the team. We can make it like a Green Bay Packers ownership style, except more national.

Could you imagine if every Yankees fan had a share in the team?

Mark Cuban, and a few others have been saying for a while that a hedge fund will eventually buy a team..imagine that

If the Yankees ever became publicly owned I think there would be a large scale effort for opposing fans to buy as many shares as possible and vote on bad decisions. That's what I'd do anyway.

I don't think it would work like that. The Packers are owned by the public, but run by a group. At least that's how I understand it.

No common man would get to put his shareholder vote in to trade Alex Rodriguez to the Sox for Coco Crisp.

    Sorry.

Obviously not day to day things or baseball operations decisions, but the people who run the team would have to be approved by shareholders, and they could theoretically block anyone who knew what they were doing or something. I don't know, I just think that would be kinda cool.

I hate the Yankees/Yankee fans, but as a sports fan I would never wish Dolan ownership on ANYBODY.

    Money talks

Isn't the conventional wisdom that Stinebrenners kids really didn't have much interest in baseball anyways? That's why he always had in-laws in key positions.

I read this story and all it really indicates to me is that one (or maybe two) of the parties involved in owning Yes is unhappy with another... so much so that they leaked this to the media to put some pressure on the other one (two). I don't see them selling anytime soon, but you will probably see more of these partners bickering in order to gain leverage over the others.
