I dont like that for the sheer reason that that would be rushing this kid up too quick. Look at what happened w/ Craig Hansen n the Red Sox. An interesting tidbit I just heard on ESPN. According to Jose Canseco he is going to release some info soon on Alex Rodriguez and "some stuff" he says he used.
Today to me is a desperate situation, we are on the borderline of games in the WC we can fall behind. 5 is not bad. If we see the numbers 6, 7 or 8 then unfortunately it will be an empty Yankees stadium in september
Cleveland lost and Boston should lose so if we can hold on we're pretty much back where we started in the WC anyway at the beginning of the weekend..not a lost cause yet.
rivera strikes out gomez to end the game and give the yankees a split. mariano very shaky this weekend. seattle leads oakland 7-5 in the 5th boston lost, cleveland lost
Oh, please. He didn't get hit hard. He got the job done (twice), and despite the hits, he just struck out the side in today's game. Pitching with a four-run lead invites a different strategy than pitching in a one-run game.
he was shaky. that's a fact. if you're ok with your closer giving up hits and runs left and right, that's fine. but no one can deny that he had a bad weekend.
First of all, giving up runs left and right would imply that he gave up more than one. He didn't. He gave up four hits in 2.2 innings of work. Not ideal, but I'm okay with my closer pitching to a situation instead of to a stat, which he did today. Friday, he struggled with command... I'll give you that. But settled down, and got it done. If you look at the nature of the hits, and the situation of the game today, you'd realize it's not like Farnsworth getting knocked around the park. Mo didn't look "shaky" today and to say he did is ad hoc at best. Wannabe Yankee hatin' at worst. I mean, really. He got the job done both times, and you're going to say he was "very shaky" and "had a bad weekend" because of a couple of dinky hits in a four-run game? Allow me to repeat myself: Oh please.
amazing how you defend him no matter what he does. Even Mo would admit he had a bad weekend. Are you his father? he allowed two runners in scoring position today, and in the resumed suspended game, he came thisclose to blowing it. how many extra base hits does he have to allow?
Amazing how I defend him no matter what he does? Are you kidding? This is only the second time I've commented on Mo, and both times it was in response to ridiculous claims. (The first being that Mo hasn't been good since his early season struggles.) If you said, "Mo wasn't at his best this weekend," I would've said, "I agree." If you said, "Mo made that first game closer than it should've been," I would've agreed as well. But to watch today's game and to then say that he was "very shaky" and that he "had a bad weekend" in addtion to erroneously claiming that he "gave up hits and runs left and right" is to unnecessarily overstate the case. To a degree that makes it seem rather obvious that you're just trying to hate. And here I am stupid enough to respond. Lesson learned. ETA: How many do you think he gave up? (The correct answer is: one. How very shaky of him.)
I'm trying to hate? I was just stating a fact that he had a bad weekend. I just wasn't aware that I'd have to argue with Mariano's father. Your son is a great closer, Mr. Rivera. Take a nap now.
Ad hominem attacks. The last resort of someone whose point is on "very shaky" ground. Whatever, dude. It's not helping your case. The innocent, "Who me?" approach isn't very clever, either. A "fact" is an observation upon which everyone can agree. Your claims are far from facts. As I said, not the best outings by Mo, for sure. But to make such claims after today's game (in which he struck out the side and gave up two meaningless hits while his team had a comfortable lead) just seems silly and devoid of much in the way of meaning. Dammit. Here I am responding again. Shame on me.
