HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) -- The New York Jets signed kicker Justin Ayat and tackle Marko Cavka on Tuesday.

Ayat, a 2004 graduate of the University of Hawaii, was successful on 191 of 209 extra-point attempts and converted 59 of 89 field-goal attempts, including a career-long 56-yarder.

Cavka, selected by the Jets in the sixth round of the 2004 draft, rejoins New York after spending last year with the Amsterdam Admirals of NFL Europa. He was inactive for all 16 games of the 2004 season, as well as both Jets playoff games

If he was indeed so bad, then why would Mangini bring him back?

So Nugents leg doe snot get overworked in camp / pre-season....It's the same reason you have more than 1 punter during camp...

    And 59 of 89 attempts? That's 66%!

I suppose we could let them go for coffee and wash Mangini's SUV.

Bradway LOVED Cavka. They guy is 6'7", and has his weight up from 297, to 310, and could probably add 15 more.

If you move him inside from Tackle to Guard, or play him behind Clement this season, with Bender inside at RG, you'd be BIG on the right side.

yeah, i thought Cavka didn't come close to panning out, but i was going to mention his size; if he develops with that frame, that's some very nice bulk on the interior.

    cheers

If he's the same big oaf I saw in previous TC's, he's way to slow and unathletic. The guy practically trips over himself just walking around the practice field.

huh? uh what? he was a 6th round pick project that never saw the field. How did he become the worst of the worst?
