*gasp* Dwight, Chatham on PUP; Peters waived https://www.nyjets.com/news/articles/show/1384-dwight-chatham-on-pup-peters-waived The New York Jets have announced that wide receiver Tim Dwight and linebacker Matt Chatham have been placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list. The Jets have also signed free agent center Joseph Villani. And guard Dominic Moran and safety Leonard Peters have been waived. The announcements were made by Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum. Dwight (5'8", 180) originally signed with the Jets as an unrestricted free agent in March 2006. He played in nine games with two starts last season and had 16 receptions for 112 yards. Chatham (6'4", 250) also signed with the Jets as an unrestricted free agent in March 2006. He played in 16 games last season and tallied 19 tackles on defense and 15 stops on special teams. Villani (6'4", 300) finished his University of Pittsburgh career playing in 35 games with 23 consecutive starts, including 12 games as a senior in 2006, when he was selected to play in the Hula Bowl. Villani originally joined the Panthers as a walk-on transfer from Bucknell in 2003. The Wantagh, N.Y., native was an all-league, all-city and All-Long Island selection at St. Anthony?s High School.
Wow.....that Leonard Peters guy, with all that hype, didn't even make it to training camp? I was actually excited about him....I guess we are just too deep at the safety positions....I bet he will get picked up elsewhere...
Hey big thumbs up to the kid from Wantagh- let's see what he can do. Peters is out, but what about the hair? Does it get to stay?
This is a bummer. I was looking forward to seeing him play in a pre season game. I wonder why he didn't make it to training camp
And to think how many people called me an a....ole because I said we should calm down about a guy passed by teams a minimum of 7 times. Sounds like Dwight/Chatham could not pass the conditioning test!
Agreed...his highlight reel was pretty awesome, but anyone who started a few years should have made enough plays to fill a minute or two of highlight footage. He was a nice story, but realistically I don't think he had the speed to compete at the NFL level where a few tenths of a second is the difference between Pro Bowl and "time to get a real job".
Awww...terribly disappointing to see Leonard Peter's hair get cut along with that guy that always carried it around. Well, at least no will miss him:smile:
actaully glad to see peters go we were just delaying the inevitable. kinda guy who hasnt done shit at the pro level and you get sick of hearing about on tgg ala pouha and schelgel.
Well obviously there is a reason why Peters got cut and as many people will mock me I'm extremely disapointed. Then again I was devastated when Matt Walters got cut a few years ago.
Chatham was awful last year and Dwight was doing a poor job returning punts though he was doing a decent job as a WR.
Losing Dwight is the only bad news in that report. Just means our rookies are going to be more exposed to getting hurt and that's never good.
