OMG! What idiots! "It's his dog and his property, so what goes on behind closed doors is his business" Get a clue you two ding dongs, dog fighting is ILLEGAL! Sheesh!
Terrible. This guy is filth. I don't care whether or not he gets convicted, it seems completely obvious that the bastard's guilty. I hope he gets what he deserves. Falcons management must be fuming right now. They got rid of their insurance policy mere weeks before the investigation started and no matter what they do with Vick, they'll look bad; don't cut him and you'll lose integrity with the fanbase and rest of the NFL, or cut him and devestatingly cripple your team's salary cap for a few years because of his bloated contract.
Local charges in Va. still possible against Vick Updated 13h 44m ago http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/falcons/2007-07-18-vick-local-charges_N.htm By Chris Colston, USA TODAY A day after a federal indictment of Michael Vick, Surry County, Va., Sheriff Harold Brown and Commonwealth Attorney Gerald Poindexter said they are continuing their investigation and could present evidence at a Surry County Grand Jury on July 24. "We are not surprised that Vick and his three associates were indicted," Brown and Poindexter said in a joint statement. "All four of the defendants named in the indictment are names of persons familiar to us as a result of our investigation, the results of which have been shared from the beginning with Federal authorities. "It should be noted that the Federal interests and the State's interests are different, even though resting upon similar and sometimes the very same facts. "For example, the unlawful killing of dogs, as mentioned in the Federal indictment, is a felony under Virginia law and not so under Federal law. "As such, the Commonwealth's investigation will continue and its eventual results will rest in large part upon the continued cooperation between State and Federal authorities." A county investigation has been going on since an April 25 drug raid at the Moonlight Road property owned by Vick yielded evidence of dogfighting. The indictment alleged dogfighting
got this in an email from the humane society: "The outrage is unprecedented, and for good reason: Two days after a federal grand jury indicted NFL star quarterback Michael Vick and three cohorts on felony dogfighting charges, more than 100,000 people have called on the NFL to suspend Vick immediately." do you think the hundreds of thousands of letters and calls and the protests will have an effect on the NFL? i almost hope vick plays some games this year, out of curiousity to see the reaction he gets in Atlanta and visiting cities...i think it will be FAR worse than anything bonds gets
on Steven A's Radio show - They were talking how they can understand why blacks feel that this is a race issue. Basically Vick is in this trouble because he is black. First, I can't follow how this is a race issue. Somebody help me undestand this! Second, If it is a race issue isn't it the race of Dogs that got screwed here and not anyone else.
because any time a black person isn't hired, or is fired, or is charged with a crime, it's because the evil white people are being racists. Screaming A. Smith is a despicable excuse for a human being and has always been a huge racist. Even if he wasn't so damn annoying, I wouldn't listen to his show on principle.
as much as I hate to give any Giants players credit, at least this proves that all NFL players aren't complete fools. I was having my doubts.. http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2007/06/05/antonio-pierce-anybody-who-fights-pit-bulls-is-a-punk/
Finally back from vacation. The second I saw this I said (and I don't think that anyone has posted it): At least the Falcons, who have some shit luck since they just traded Schaub, will pick up Culpepper. I think it's very likely that Vick will go behind bars for a little bit, he hasn't produced, and it's safe to say that they need to start looking for the future. Culpepper could make a nice quick fix.
Yep. Mexicanbuc thought the same thing. I agree. http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=22834
It's surprising how ignorant some season ticket holders in ATL are with the current situation. One saying that Vick should be "properly acquitted." Do that dumb shit have any idea what a Federal Indictment is? It's not like the Virginia cops found these dogs yesterday and arrested Vick today. They're been tracking everything and getting EYE-witness testimony's from people that were at the house. Vick is not getting acquitted. They're going to trace down the call that was even made to consult him before a dog was killed. Vick is the worst and it boils my blood to think about what's been done - and all JETS fans need to somehow unite to Boo every time that idiot Portis touches the ball come November.
And there is now talk that he will be indited in Virginia too. So he will have a lot to try and squirm out of to walk on this one.
I actually want Vick to play at least one game so they can blast "Who let the dogs out?" every time he takes the field and after every single play....until some player accidentally nails him out of bounds, thus ending his season. THEN he can go to jail.
I hope that his brother Marcus shoots him in the left hand on accident while trying to look like a thug in a McDonald's parking lot...because we all know Marcus Vick loves to shoot guns in the air at McDonald's.
I actually don't think it has become a race issue. But it's strange. I can't count the number of times I've heard someone refer to it as becoming a race issue. It's like, that's what we expect from a minority defendant in a high profile criminal case. It's shameful that we all immediately put up our dukes and expect that sort of thing. Google "Michael Vick dog fight racism." What you get are a whole bunch of stories about why this isn't about race. Query: Who said it was? Nobody, yet. Michael Vick and his co-defendants haven't spoken a word. I think everyone who might be incline to say such nonsense realize that they'd sound like callous boobs. Very strange stuff. How does Michael Vick defend himself without justifying his sadistic treatment of animals? Seems to me he'd have to argue something like Clinton Portis does - that it's ingrained in the southern black culture (which was what Portis was implying), and we're invading his property and his privacy. He would otherwise have to throw all his buddies under the bus and tell us that he was just the unknowing property owner. He really is in a pickle. I'm going to watch this closely as it unfolds.
If Ookie were to do so, I'm not sure he'd see too many more birthdays unless he were to move to Idaho or Montana to live a life of isolation on some mountain post-prison. I work with a guy who is originally from the deep South. He claims he attended some dog fights. He said he never knew dog fighting was illegal. "They're just dogs". I could have been having a conversation with Clinton Portis. I believe people who hold these opinions had this dog-fighting-is-okay idea ingrained in them at an early age.
