http://www.wsbtv.com/news/13699351/detail.html ATLANTA -- Falcons Quarterback Michael Vick has been indicted on two felony criminal counts related to dog fighting at his Virginia home. Vick has denied any involvement in dog fighting. He has said relatives who once lived at his Virginia property may be responsible. According to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern district of Virginia, Vick has been indicted on two criminal counts -- they are both felonies. The first count is for sponsoring a dog in an animal fighting venture and the other is conspiracy as part of another felony. The indictment states Vick ?knowingly sponsored and exhibited an animal in a fighting venture.? And that he ?purchased and developed a property to serve as the main staging area for housing and training pit bulls to fight and for hosting dog fights.? The indictment charges the Falcons Quarterback and three others with moving dogs across state lines for the purpose of fighting.
There's no way he gets convicted. He has way more to offer anyone involved than the cops. Question is whether Goodell cares (or wants to wait) for Vick to get convicted. Should be interesting.
Michael Vick (Finally) Indicted I hope he's convicted, and I hope his punishment is painful. Proportionately painful. Like being placed in a dog fighting pit with a frothy and angry pitbull, and having to stay in there until there's only one standing; much as he did to all those rotting dog corpses found on his property. Or, if we're looking for something realistically proportionate, how about having to pay to care for every dog taken off his property, as well as all their pups, for the remainder of their lives.
He can't wait. Pacman was never convicted and that set the precedent. He has no choice now but to suspend him. If he doesn't then he is opening up a can of worms he will never be able to close. Not to mention that there are an awful lot of people in this country (i'm not one of them) that think what he did is worse then if he was a serial killer. They already plan on protesting outside Atlanta games and that was before he was indited.
http://www.11alive.com/news/article_news.aspx?storyid=100236 Michael Vick Indicted in Connection With Dog Fighting Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick was indicted late Tuesday afternoon for one count of conspiracy to transport dogs across state lines for the purpose of dog fighting. Vick became the focus of a federal dog fighting probe after an April 25 drug raid on his Surry County, Virginia, home. At that time, authorities seized 66 dogs, including 55 pit bulls, and equipment that suggested someone at the property was involved in a dog fighting operation. Papers, filed earlier this month by federal authorities in U.S. District Court in Richmond, noted that dog fights have been sponsored by "Bad Newz Kennels" at the property since at least 2002. Fifty-four animals were recovered from the property during searches in April, along with a "**** stand," used to hold dogs in place for mating; an electric treadmill modified for dogs; and a bloodied piece of carpeting, the documents said. During a June search of the property, investigators uncovered the graves of seven pit bulls that were killed by members of "Bad Newz Kennels" following sessions to test whether dogs would be good fighters, the documents said. Vick has claimed he rarely visits the Surry County home and was unaware of any criminal enterprise. ------- I hope they build a **** stand for him in prison.
Now that is sick. I'm surprised he's only being indicted on conspiracy charges. It's pretty clear (at least in the court of public opinion) that he's guilty of a lot more, however, I see him getting off pretty lightly thanks to a high-priced lawyer. Who wants to bet on the over/under on his NFL suspension? I'm guessing with Goodell's tough player-conduct policy and a boatload of pressure from animal-rights groups, I'll set the bar at 1 full season.
No, that's when a COURT will pass judgment and he will be called to task for his crimes to the public at large. I don't owe such due process, and I certainly don't afford him such luxury in rendering my own opinion. I can pass judgment and condemn him right here and right now. That's the beauty of having personal opinions. I don't have to be consistent, and I don't have to follow any one else's rules to have them. He's trash. And, he's the type of trash that I'd like to strip to the waist and strap into a "rape stand." By the by, on that same note, I think Orenthal James Simpson murdered two people in cold blood, and I think that Michael Jackson diddles young children. See how this works?
