http://www.forbes.com/feeds/ap/2007/07/16/ap3919507.html The Chicago Cubs acquired veteran catcher Jason Kendall on Monday in a trade with the Oakland Athletics for catcher Rob Bowen and minor league pitcher Jerry Blevins.
Sure as hell beats Koy Hill? And Henry Blanco. He was very good in Pittsburgh, and I think he'll fare well against NL pitching...Solid move by Chicago. Sweet Lou has that team playing well after a bad start...Oh what could of been, i'm happy for Lou...
I don't think AL pitching is the reason he can only muster a .262 OBP with no power. I think he just sucks. If the Cubs actually picked up his salary, Beane is a bandit.
Kendall is done. His precipitous decline is not uncommon for catchers. He's 33 and he's played a lot of games. Does this make "Enrico Piazzo" the full time guy in Oakland? -X-
piazza: turning 39, has caught 1,629 games. Don't think he's going to be a full-time catcher. he hasn't caught a game this season. kendall: just turned 33, has caught less games than piazza
Kendall will do. He's got more bat than Hill or Bowen and is at least as solid behind the plate. We'll just keep rolling till someone stops us.
A lot of talk of Junior Griffey coming over to play CF with Izturis and Jacque Jones moving on...would be interesting.
I would think it will be Kurt Suzuki. He turns 24 in December and was the team's No. 3 prospect entering the season.
