    Johnny....YOU SUCK!!!

$12 million a year and his contract is up after NEXT season correct? Wow.

    Gotta love it...

He isn't even half the fucking player he was in Boston.

After next year the Yankees will be swimming in money which is why they will probably pay Arod whatever he wants if he wants to stay..no Damon at 12, no Pavano and 10, no Giambi at 23, no Abreau at 16, etc..in fact the Yankees only have 50 million committed on salaries in 2009 and 25 million 2010...lol...they may end up under the cap..add a new stadium with anothe 100 million or more in revenue and wow...just wow

Didn't Damon sign a 4 year deal? either way he's been hurt this year, I expected we'd get 2 real good years out of him and we got 1. Hopefully he'll work alot harder this offseason and bounce back for '08.

They need to just shut him down for the rest of the season. Let his legs get healthy. It's not like he's suddenly become a terrible player. Leg problems sapped him power and speed.

Make the guy get healthy and protect the final two years of the investment. Yankees aren't going anywhere this season, no sense making the injuries worse.

You would be correct. I know he would terribly overpaid and wouldn't provide the pop you look for at 1B or DH, but IMO that has to be Damon's position next year. With the amount of CFs out there this winter, there's no excuse for the Yankees not to get one. Damon just can't seem to stay healthy at CF anymore and is a liability at the position.

A crisp 0-3 tonight. Bringing his average down to .238. Great job Johnny...

    Melky .282/Good Arm/Hustles/Young

I said I wanted the Melk Man to be the heir to Bernie in Centerfield...But of course the Yanks had to get a "name" and player like Damon...

    Look who's in Center now

Oh that's great...Between him and Giambi, we're in great situations.

You just know that at the end of next season we will either A) eat his deal and trade him else where or b)if he has anything left just bite the bullet and put him at DH for a year. were the Yanks not to sound to cocky. We make a mess with money, then we just wipe it up with more money

Never knew Yankee fans cared much for their particularly high payroll.

When it comes to worthless bums I care...Not for players who earn it.

Mussina is CLOSE to being included in this group...Not to mention Farnsworthless.

    Raised up to .246.

Nice little streak, still waiting for his injury to start "nagging"

Supposedly, he's healthy and has been healthy for a few weeks now. He was just slumping... getting his swing back. He also mentioned that he's been making adjustments to how he's being pitched, and is trying to go the other way with the ball, since they're pitching him away away away.

I hope this is the case, because Damon is one of the guys (along with Cano and Abreu) who can help to take a lot of pressure of A-Rod, Jeter, and Posada. If those guys can just perform at their career norms for the rest of the season, you can suffer slumps from the other guys and it will still be very, very difficult to stop the Yankee offense.

Yeah, I keep hearing how in the clubhouse, the new catch phrase is "think middle." That's the right way. These bats are capable of big things when they just swing the way they are built to swing. If guys aren't worried about pulling the ball and hitting the "5 run homer," but rather just worrying about putting the ball in play, then big things will happen.
