It will be fun to see which Yanks stand up (or don't) for Torre. This isn't typical Sheff BS... he's directly accusing Torre of racism. Where will the "true Yankees" be next time Shef steps foot in the Bronx?

Sheff is always good for a chuckle. If Torre disliked him so much, he would have benched him in the playoffs last year instead of having him at first and in the lineup.

Sheffield would beat the wheels off of Farnsworth.

I think Sheff does all this talking just so he has a chip on his shoulder constantly.. he hit a huge grand slam yesterday in the midst of all this lol

I haven't heard a single one of them come out and say anything since the article hit, have you? Not even captain crunch.

I agree, he certainly treated Sheffield 1000% better then he has ever treated Arod.

Maybe with juice Sheff wins, but Farnsworth is baseball's version of an enforcer. The guy can scrap.

there are loads of racist morons on the street like sheffield, I'm sure. What's annoying is that the media has to shove this crap in our collective faces constantly. Sheffield is a baseball player. That makes him less credible, not more credible. I don't care what he has to say. Just ignore him like every other idiot out there.

you're saying acting like a racist bigot gives me motivation?

Very doubtful. He just is a racist bigot. It has nothing to do with how well he plays.

lol, dude is a total thug. I still remember him charging Pete Wilson. Still the only time I've ever seen a pitcher charge a hitter.

A-Rod's parents are Dominican. Some Dominicans are "dark", but they hardly fall into the category of black, which in this country usually refers to African-Americans.

He should have been benched along w/ Matsui.

ZERO RBI in 11 games up until the point he put him in te 8 spot, yeah Joe should have celebrated the greatness of ARod by not doing anything.

And Sheffield batted .083 and stayed at #4 throughout the series....you are as bad as the Yankee morons that gave Maris as much crap as they did in 1961 or booed him unmercifully in 1962.

Yeah, and it's his worst because for the first time 12 twelve years the team isn't winning despite him.

and sheff STILL had more RBi than ARod. In case you haven't been paying attention i said Sheff should not have been playing at all.

This has nothing to do w/ Maris, they booed him b/c they loved Mickey and he was chasing Ruth. in the 1960 WS he had 2 HRs, he produced. They booed him for other reasons. ARod has deserved it for not being a clutch player until this year and for being so embarrassingly bad in October. ARod has been the worst yankee the last 2 postseasons and he's supposed to be our best player.

Yeah joe had nothing to do w/ 4 Championships and 6 AL pennants. They won in spite of him just like before Joe- oh wait they hadn't won a postseason series before Joe since 1981. It's hysterical how you will bash a guy like Torre who led us to 4 Championships yet defend a guy like ARod who has been brutal in October.

YOU are the type of fan that gives Yankee fans a bad name, the type that forgets quickly all that certain players/managers/GMs have done for us. You ar mroe into meaningless reg season #s than winning.

So what's the magic number for former players to call out Joe before you all stop rippin' Sheffield?? Two so far we'll see how many more come out and say something... We weren't in that clubhouse, they were. I've never been a fan of Joe's ways and this doesn't surprise me at all that guys are coming out and saying this stuff.

Kenny "Hussle" Lofton sucked that year and can go f**k himself. I know this situation doesn't deserve anymore attention, but I really wish guys like Strawberry, Hayes, Raines, Davis, Justice, and Gordon would come out and put Sheffield in his place.

You know who has been less successful than ARod in the postseason since 2001?

    Joe Torre.

Your favorite manager has yet to win a title since the Mets. But you have no problem defending him every single day. On the other hand, you're bashing Alex Rodriguez every single day for failing when all but THREE players did the same thing.

Your "meaningless numbers" routine is getting tired. Last year, yes, that's a defendable position. He did put up a lot his numbers in garbage time. However, the rest of his time here, that is far from the case.

And as for the whole "meaningless numbers" arguement, besides being tired, it's mostly invalid. Runs matter between April and September. If he's putting up the numbers, he's getting runs in. You don't play in October if you don't score in July.
