But why do anything if your past successes aren't a factor? As far as the 26 rings thing,i still say it was a legit thing for 04. You guys FINALLY got one over us. But after being bitch slapped how many times? By us?

as far as this year, who said 26 rings in responce to being -.500 this year? If anything,i think the Yankee fan responce has been the opposite.

That is true and that is why I can't be or anyone else can be jealous of their championships if they haven't felt the championship themselves, to me all 26 of your championships mean absolutely nothing for me and yet I care a lot more about the 1999, 2000, 2006, this year as well as others, similarly the same is felt about the Jets 1998, 2004 and 2006 teams as examples and yet I don't care about any of the other titles the other teams have won.

Those 4 rings you cared about may have been legit for '04, but what bothers me is that the other 20 weren't. Those were simply numbers, numbers that don't mean anything.

Actually, yeah they were. All 26 rings came after Bostons last one up that point and during that period of 86 years we watched our division rival blow it in so many crushing ways. Acumulating championships DOES mean something to the history of the sport, especially when the Yankees have won nearly 1/4 of them. I will agree that 26 rings means absolutely nothing to the current baseball season, but if you want to keep saying that they mean nothing at all then i'm going to have to say your statement is made like a true fan of a team without a history that comes close.
Do you enjoy when SNY has specials on the 86 Mets? Or when they replay the games? I know i do,and i also love watching Yankeeography, replays of games from championships. I love documentarys of Ruth,Gherig,Joe D etc. I also like the new "the bronx is burning". All baseball history. They even have a lovely building in Cooperstown that glorifys baseball history. Go tell them it means nothing.
All of the time i see Sox fans wearing shirts that say "2004 world champs". So history means nothing? Or it doesn't until you have one?

    I care about 1986--simply because I can't imagine a more enjoyable season in every respect--but 1969 is a year. That's it.

And here's a question every Yankee fan I've asked it to hates: If you have 26 WS titles that mean as much as they do, why bother continuing? Because I doubt the Sox, or anyone else, will reach them.

And another note that I forgot to post before: You use the jealousy arguement. But during that same time, I don't remember people hating Michael Jordan's Bulls. Why's that?

Not sure what you mean by care. Its all part of the history of the game, and there were plenty of years the Yanks didn't win that i enjoyed. Actually, ever since i was a kid i collected 1950 topps cards of Brooklyn Dodgers players. I have a dvd of their history. And even got to have a great conversation with Cal Abrams as a kid for a school report. So,i care about their history.

You guys have to realize that when Met fans make the Yankees their most hated team, even over thier division rivals it is strange. It is strange when Met fans constantly come into our threads, bad mouth the Yankees any way they can, they get a reaction then call us arrogant. That is the exact way it goes. The bait is constantly put on the line then you guys complain when the fish bite. And to say it has nothing to do with the success of a team that plays a bridge' length away is ridiculous.

I don't hate that question. It has an easy answer. the organization will do more than most to try and get to #27. The Jordan Bulls champ run doesn't cover near as much time as the Yankees. That was a run, with one player. That has happened more than once with more than one player for the Yankees.

I kind of get the first answer, but about the Bulls...

But in 1997, when the Bulls were gearing up for title #6, they were more revered than anything. When the Yankees lost to Arizona in 2001, a nation rejoiced. the Yankee dynasty was what, from 1996 to 2001? Similar timespan.

If you're arguing Yankee hatred stems back to Mantle and Maris and then to Murderer's Row, I would simply have to disagree.

Do you care about the Royals history or the Expos history? Now I'm not talking about individual years but their complete history because that is what the argument is about.

You guys always bring up Mets fans coming into your threads but have to realize that you are painting a very broad brush doing so especially nowadays, other than Shade and dave your argument isn't too relevant it would be like me judging all Yankee fans based on how Drob and Rogerblaze acts.

And no I don't find it strange at all that some Mets fans hates the Yankees more than division rivals because he may have to hang out with asshole bandwagon Yankee fans on a daily basis, and I don't mean fans like on here but Yankees fans that act closer to Rogerblaze

Every team has fans that talk shit. What makes it any different than Shadetree or davecrazy living their baseball life looking for the chance to point out Yankee misfotunes? Odds are that Met fans have Yankee fan friends because they are in the same town. The Yankee fan has had more room to talk and the Met fan doesn't like it. The Met fan wishes he had the trophy so he could shove it down the Yankee fans throat. If a yankee and Met fan get into an argument over baseball, who gonna win and why? The Yankee fan because of the championships and the last being over the Mets. I understand the bitterness, but lets not deny where it comes from any why.

You obviously don't care what we have to say, because we've explained that's not the point. So let's move on.

This is why Mets/Yankees arguments never go anywhere, the history you guys brag about means nothing now, while it is history, it is in the past and as no barring on the present and future. Even that championship you guys brag about to no end not a single Met and most of the Yankees remain from the teams. That 2000 team wasn't even the best Met team in the Piazza era so the only bitterness is the fact that it feels like arguing against a brick wall

Has absolutely no barring on this year or any to come. The past is the past, but it is still something i enjoy being proud of.
when a Met fan is asked why the Yankees are their most hated team and they say because of the "arrogance" it's pretty ridiculous. It would be nice if just they would explain it without picking a lame reason from their ass. Now everytime i see a fan of some pro team wearing a shirt or hat glorifying one of their championships,i am going to have to stop them and tell them how arrogant they are.

You still don't get it, being proud of your history isn't arrogance, shoving it in people's faces while belittling the other team's history is

absolutely, but you have to realize that it doesn't happen unprovoked. It happens when one of Shade or Dave come into our threads and start,or when Met fans are starting threads about the Yankees. Go through he forum, you'll see what i mean.
