This should be interesting... can't say I'm too upset to see Down gone.

Yeah they need to make changes. It's not like they're in first or anything.

Why would anyone say Rick Down sucks? I'm sure he's a terrific hitting coach.

Coaches just need to be recycled. To keep things going you need to change approaches and styles. It doesn't mean Down was awful or anything.

I'm thrilled by this move. Having Rickey in the dugout every game will be awesome.

Thanks. The Milledge supporters seem to be few and far between. I also decided to have a little fun with Milledge's incident this year.

There's no doubt that with Rickey and Lastings around, Shea will be a little more interesting in the second half.

Count me as a member of the Milledge bandwagon.

Having a loud/ostentatious personality isn't the same as being a bad person or clubhouse cancer. I look forward to seeing Milledge start the next few weeks.

This move makes no sense at all... Yeah I'm sure it was Rick Downs fault that Delgado is hitting .230 this year and the team can't get a runner in from third with less than two outs..

They needed a shake up. It probably wasn't Downs fault, but it couldn't hurt.

I saw a Willie interview on SNY. He clearly is not happy with the move. WELL, Willie, Omar just shot a bullet over your head. Get your team playing better baseball!

Well looks like we made the move that makes the most sense, although I do like Rickey as the 1st base coach

I'll edit the title so that it is more accurate, and congrats to Hojo!

So recapping, our new hitting coach hit .249 over his career and was always suspected of corking his bat. Anyone remember how mad Herzog used to get whenever HoJo hit one of his tape-measure shots against the Cards?

I don't really see how making HoJo the hitting coach makes more sense, aside from tenure. Rickey was one of the all-time greats at pitch selection, bat control, and that whole shebang.
