I'd agree, I also hope Bonds gets hurt. He doesn't care about anyone but himself, so why should we care about him?

I didn't take it to a whole new level. This is the same thing I've been saying about Bonds for a couple years now.

You can hate Jeter all you want. He's not a cheat.

I dislike Ortiz and most of the rest of the Red Sox, (just because they are the Sox.) I HATE Varitek, (because I think he's a dirtbag.) I'd NEVER wish ANY of them to be injured. As much as it would hurt the Yankees, I only wish the best for Lester after beating cancer.

It's not like I'm randomly targeting Bonds. I never had a problem with the way he treated the media. I supported him all along, UNTIL steroids entered the mix. Hell, even THEN I supported him at first.

Then I read a writeup on just what effect steroids have on a baseball player. I figured all it did was allow them more time in the gym, which to me is no big deal. So what? So a guy can spend an extra hour pumping weights? That shouldn't make him a better ballplayer. Stronger, sure, but it shouldn't allow him to do the other things that are critical to smacking a tiny ball with a small stick 350+ feet.

But that's not the case. Steroids improve hand-to-eye coordination. They allow a home run hitter to do exactly what he does best, better. It increases focus and timing. That's on top of allowing them the extra gym time, which allows them to increase their power. Not to mention it allows their bodies to go far longer than they should naturally have gone.

As far as I'm concerned, Bonds, Giambi, Palmiero, Sosa, Big Mac, and even Clemens can all go to hell. Hank Aaron earned the right to hold the most coveted record in sports. Bonds sold his long-term health to get his name in the record books. Sorry, I just can't find a way to justify it.

I don't care if you hate the guy. The fact that you wish that he be seriously injured is just outright fucked up.

Why the hell do you guys care so much if he wants him to get hurt? It can't possibly affect you in any way and some of you are freaking out about it. Who the fuck cares?

Fair enough, but how about focus and timing? And of course, we can argue conflicting studies all day, I'm sure. Regardless, it is generally accepted throughout all sports that steroids are performance enhancers, and therefore give an unfair advantage to any people who use them. Bonds is one such person, and therefore, his "record" is unclean, and invalid IMO. My issue takes form when it comes down to it being accepted and revered anyway.

I'm honestly not trying to argue with you though. I appreciate your last post asking "who cares" what I think, but I knew when I posted it I'd get flamed. Any time someone posts about hoping someone gets injured they get flamed here. Hell, I've flamed people about it too, so it's not undeserved. I'm rooting for the guy to lose his ability to earn a living, and it can be construed as F'd up.

My defense, that I don't feel people are entitled to when they simply post that they hope a player on an opposing team gets hurt (for example, a Yankees fan hoping Manny gets hurt,) is that Bonds is a unique case.

I rooted for Bonds to break McGwire's season record, since I felt Mac was a cheater, and didn't deserve it (I would've loved for him to get hurt too.) Then the shit hit the fan with Barry as well. When he became recognized as a cheater, he lost all credibility in his ability to generate income doing what he does. I'd parallel it with a corporate CEO who embezzles millions while the employees' 401k funds tank. Those scumbags can go to hell too.

The fact is, I'm extremely opinionated, and everyone knows it. The downside to that is that I'm going to butt heads with people on more than my fair share of occasions. That's what happens. I'm fine with it. Just as I have a right to my opinion, so do others. Obviously, as evidence by this thread, I'm not the only person who holds to my opinion. It's unreasonable to some, and to others, it's not.

Quite simply, if this conversation was regarding Ortiz or Manny breaking the record, I'd be leading the cheers, regardless of the team they play for. I have no problem with a great ballplayer breaking the greatest of records. I do have a problem with a cheater doing it though.

Opinions are like assholes, everyone's got one.

Hating Bonds because he is a cheater and an asshole is different then hating Jeter because he's great, owns a fist full of rings, and is a Yankee

I wouldnt mind a pitcher putting a ball in his knee and Bonds never being able to play again, the guy deserves nothing less....Im not as avid as Alio about it, but I wouldnt feel one bit of sympathy for Bonds if this happened

He is tied for 6th in the AL in homers. I think Rios is a very talented player, but it does show how much homers are down this year compared to previous seasons.

Big deal it's still a dumb move, he won't win. He's as useless as Nomar was in '99.
