Raiders | Rhodes suspended four games Tue, 3 Jul 2007 18:30:02 -0700 Jason Jones, of the Sacramento Bee, reports Oakland Raiders RB Dominic Rhodes has been suspended the first four games of the 2007 season for violation of the NFL's Substance Abuse policy. He can return to the active roster Oct. 1 and is allowed to practice during training camp while also taking part in preseason games. His suspension begins Aug. 31.
This was no supprise to raiders and every other team in the league. There is a reason why Raiders got D rhodes at a very reasonable rate in FA. D rhodes while still technical a member of Colts, was arrested for driving under the influence. Everyone knew he was going to miss the first four weeks. Even though hes going to miss first four weeks, it still put pressure on L Jordan to perform.
Raiders RB Rhodes suspended for 4 games By JOSH DUBOW, AP Sports Writer July 3, 2007 http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_y...=ap-raiders-rhodessuspended&prov=ap&type=lgns ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) -- Oakland Raiders running back Dominic Rhodes was suspended Tuesday for the first four games of the season for violating the league's substance abuse policy. The league does not disclose reasons for substance abuse suspensions, but Rhodes pleaded guilty in the offseason to reckless driving charges in Indiana after prosecutors agreed to drop drunken driving charges against him. ADVERTISEMENT Rhodes, who spent his six years in Indianapolis, signed a two-year contract in the offseason with the Raiders that could be worth up to $7.5 million. He is expected to split time with last year's starter LaMont Jordan as the Raiders try to improve a running game that averaged 3.9 yards per carry in 2006. Rhodes started all 16 regular-season games last season, rushing for 641 yards and five touchdowns. After backing up Edgerrin James since entering the league, Rhodes shared the job last season with rookie Joseph Addai. He has 2,274 yards rushing in his career. Rhodes had one of his best performances in the Colts' Super Bowl win over the Chicago Bears, rushing for 113 yards in Indianapolis' 29-17 victory. Rhodes will be able to participate in training camp and in all preseason games. His suspension will begin Aug. 31, the day after Oakland's final exhibition game, and he will be eligible to return Oct. 1, following the fourth game of the season against Miami. Rhodes will also miss games against Detroit, Denver and Cleveland. Rhodes was pulled over by an Indiana state trooper in February for driving 81 mph in a 55-mph zone. He was originally charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and operating a vehicle with a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit. Rhodes pleaded guilty in March to reckless driving and was sentenced to 180 days in jail. But 178 were suspended and he received credit for two days. In 2002, Rhodes was charged with domestic battery in connection with a disturbance at his home involving his child's mother, Latrina Moore. He avoided prosecution and was placed in a diversionary program and underwent mental health counseling.
He was placed on the Substance abuse program due to his DUI, the violation of the SAP and resulting 4 game suspension is courtesy of the shit he's smoking with his new Raider buddies. Unfortunately for the worst Offense the NFL has seen in quite some time, he was the only insurance policy grandpa Davis decided to sign for Jordan. Just another example of the Raiders and their commitment to mediocrity.
Haha! Mediocrity? You are giving real mediocre teams a bad name associating the Raiders with them.
Im not even going to argue with a guy who can't read. Read the article that was posted before your response. D rhodes was suspened the first four games because as a member of colts was driving under the influence. Like I stated correctly. The suspension was no supprise to D Rhodes, Raiders or every team in the Nfl. You don't think Raiders didn't cover themeslves . Michael Bush(if ready) or possible number other guys. Here is what got him in program In 2002, Rhodes was charged with domestic battery in connection with a disturbance at his home involving his child's mother, Latrina Moore. He avoided prosecution and was placed in a diversionary program and underwent mental health counseling. After that you can bet he was subjected to random testing from the league. Know your facts before posting.
drafting a 250 lb RB coming off a broken leg isnt much immediate insurance. although if your line actually ever decides to show up on a sunday LaMont should be good enough.
You or I don't know how Michael Bush is progressing. Just have to wait and see. Still the point was the same- Raiders knew a longtime ago,(before they signed him) that Rhodes was going to probably miss the first four games. So there is no way they didn't prepare for this. Also another fact is RB are as much important in passing offense as the running offense. (In Kiffen offense) L Jordan , M Bush and d rhodes are very good fits in raiders stretch and cut blocking scheme. J Fargas not as good.

DE Bryant McNeal has as much of chance of making raider roster, as Kenyon Coleman did. NOne. Since Jets have a penchant for bringing in Raiders rejects on defense, he just might find himself in a jets uniform.
Ha! You caught that too! It reminded me of this from "Robin Hood, Men in Tights. Prince John: Such an unusual name, "Latrine." How did your family come by it? Latrine: We changed it in the 9th century. Prince John: You mean you changed it TO "Latrine"? Latrine: Yeah. Used to be "Shithouse." Prince John: It's a good change. That's a good change!
What rejects are you talking about? Barton? He's not a reject... Hamilton? Couldn't hurt to have an experienced player in our new scheme. Tuisohoweveryouspellit is offense, I'll give you Jolley although he was offense as well.
I love how some of you guys wait in the weeds for any bad news concerning the Raiders. I can guarantee you we don't have a "Justin Miller Got Arrested" thread on the Raider board. And as for the depth, they have Fargas and Bush behind Jordan. Crockett, who has done a good job occasionally filling in at halfback, is still on the roster at the moment. How deep can any team be at running back? How deep are the Jets?
