......... Frankly, this sort of thing seldom bothers me. I just can't help but think that the Mrs. was trying to make a statement of some kind. Whatever could that be?
If it's not one thing it's the next...Is it just me or does the NY Post have it out for A-Rod? Did he spurn them on an interview or something?
All the media does. They need to try and sell papers anyway they can and bashing Arod sells a lot. It was the same with Randy Johnson (who definitely deserved it more) and would be with any big star ever brought in. Her statement was probably to say stay out of our business. Stay out of our lives and stay out of our faces. Actually I think it was good although maybe a little cleaner version would have been more appropriate.
I hate A-Rod and think he's done quite a bit himself to warrant some of this. But it sure does seem that the Post is singling him out. And you're right they do it to sell papers and it works.
Just out of curiousity, and not to spur any sort of derailing argument, but why do you feel ARod has done quite a bit to warrant some of this? Actually, I might need to clarify. Do you mean his treatment by the press overall? If yes, why? If it is just this situation with his wife, then I get it. Is it for perceived "dirty play," by him? Because that excuse, IMO, is poor. I could talk about how much of a douchebag Ortiz is for watching his homers clear the fence all the time, but he's a decent guy, so it's not fair to him. He never speaks poorly about anyone. He always talks to the media, unlike the biggest jerkoff in the sport out in San Fran. I would just like to know why you hate ARod? Is it because he's a Yankee? That I could actually understand, since I wish nothing good on a certain catcher that wears a C on his chest. I don't give a damn how good he is.
As for the actual topic of the thread, I don't give a crap one way or another. Obviously she's more than happy to keep the whole "hotel blonde" incident between her and her husband. If it's fine by her, I have no reason to cast stones.
I don't know, this seems pretty gratuitious to me. What can she possibly gain by drawing this kind of attention to herself? I don't think this is very bright.
Now here's a theory, and I'm really starting to consider it seriously. On three occasions this year, when mired in some sort of team slump, something ARod is directly involved in has happened. To begin the season, after that embarassing show in Detroit last October, Alex talked to the media about he and Jeter's relationship. Then we have the infamous "HAH!" incident in Toronto. Then we have the "hotel blonde" incident. After each of those exploits, the Yankees started winning again. A big key was that the team was not in the media every day, ARod was. Now we have this, in the midst of one of the most embarassing slides in my lifetime. What if ARod is just setting all of this up himself? Perhaps to deflect some of the fire away from the team, so he can finally realize his dream of winning a title. Now of course this is just theory, but the timing of each occurance, and the subsequent play by the team has been pretty ironic.
I was thinking the very same thing. ARod controversy has kick-started this team before. CyRod HAD to know it would be picked up. This intrigues me.
I always have hated him...long before he was a Yankee. He puts a lot on himself by his arrogant pompous attitude. His dirty play was just more icing on the cake. Ortiz is not one that stares at his HR's. Manny does but that's not dirty play. That's unsportsmanship. And on top of that the so-called best player in baseball failed when the real best players thrive....in the clutch (before this season mind you). That was always a pet peeve of mine in regards to A-Rod
As long as Mike Lupica continues to fancy himself a political opinion writer and Newsday continues to be an amateur effort at newspapers, I will continue to read the Post. In any event, this is a classless and trashy shirt to be wearing. I think she has every right to walk around wearing such a shirt, but a shirt like that comes with an accessory. She might not realize it, but "trash" is tattooed on her forehead. 100 million bucks can't buy class. -X-
I've never seen him as arrogant, as a matter of fact, when he does interviews, he seems pretty humble. The perceived dirty play is just that, perceived, so it's a subjective subject. We could argue it all day and never agree. As for Ortiz, he does stare at his homers. (Not to the degree Manny does, but Manny doesn't make the same point.) I never called Ortiz dirty though, I simply said I could talk about how he's a douchebag for doing it. The thing about the clutch is a very fair point. Up till this year, I would absolutely agree with you. Anyway, you answered my question. Fair enough.
I totally Agree! She must have had an agenda but it is lost on thinking people everywhere. The cover of the post is always trash and exactly where she belongs!
Well, at least in Yankee Stadium they'll learn to spell the profane words correctly, unlike in that park across the TriBoro.
Lets see I hate the Yankees , Like A Rod and think it's great that his wife gave the big bird to all those that want to know their business. It's not trash it's called not giving a shit which is great. Way to go Mrs A Rod keep up the good work. And yeah why the hell is this front page news? A Rod is not Beckham and nobody outside the US gives a flying f**k about A Rod.
