The schedule is NOT that difficult. Here is your 12 wins:

    Week 1- New England- Win
We split with the Pats last year and we will split with them again. This year, we get the home win.

    Week 2- at Baltimore- Win
One of the worst offenses in the NFL. We put up 17 points in this game and we win. Good thing we score 20. Also, thei defense is old and lost there best player.

    Week 3- Miami- Win
    Why- because we own Miami.

    Week 4- at Buffalo- Loss
Here is the 1st letdown of the season. We always have a tough time with the Bills and we will split with them just like last year.

    Week 5- at Giants- Win
This team is a trainwreck. Coughlin will be gone before the season ends and they will have a top 5 pick in next years draft.

    Week 6- Philly- Loss
We have never beaten Philly in the regular season so I am playing the percentages here. Eagles are a solid team and the Jets get there 1st home loss.

    Week 7- at Cincinnati- Win
Bengals are an undiciplined, badly coached team. They do have some weapons on offense, but the d is very average. The Jets are the better coached team here and will squeeze out a close one.

    Week 8- Buffalo- Win
Bills are not good enough to sweep us and we will get another division win here.

    Week 9- Washington- Win
Midget wide receivers, young qb, no pass rush= not a good team. Jets score alot of points with Chad having all day in the pocket and win big.

    Week 10- Bye

    Week 11- Pittsburgh- Win
Pitt will struggle on d just like we did last year with the wrong personal for the 4-3. The Cowher hangover lasts all year and Pitt turns out to be an 8-8 7-9 team. Jets win this one by a td.

    Week 12- at Dallas- Win
Chad is money in a dome. Being Dallas is a semi dome, Chad has a huge day and the Jets get a W on Turkey day. Wade Phillips has proved he is not a good head coach and it shows here.

    Week 13- at Miami- Win
    again, we own the Dolphins.

    Week 14- Cleveland- Loss
This team causes us fits. The debacle in 02 when Tim Couch led the come from behind victory at the Meadowlands.. Last year when we made their d look like the 85 bears in the 1st half. The gastineu sack playoff game etc. We just suck against the browns. We lose.

    Week 15- at NE- Loss
Pats are a well coached and experienced football team. We split again this year with the Pats taking the one in NE.

    Week 16- at Tenn
Tenn is a bad football team. No running game, no receivers, no pacman etc. We beat them in their place last year and Chad returns to his home state and does it again.

    Week 17- KC
The return of Herm. By this time, the cheifs will have double digit losses, Larry Johnson will be nowhere to be found, and all cheifs fans will rue the day they embraced coached Herman Edwards. The Jets in an absolute slaughter to end the season.

Well there you go. 12-4. Many people are overrating the strength of our schedule. We are better than almost all the teams we play.

How can you even dream of doing this before training camp?

How do you dream of discussing a game before the week before it?

Many things can change gameplans through the season.

The Ravens' offense is more middle of the pack, definitely not one of the worst in the league anymore, and probably better than ours all around.

I like your thought process. I agree that the difficulty of schedule is being way over-hyped. That being said, I don't see the Jets beating both Pittsburgh and Dallas within 5 days. Instead, I'd move one of those wins to the Cleveland game. No way the Jets don't beat them at home.

Also, as much as I'd love to see it happen, winning in Baltimore is gonna be very tough.

    I'll say 11-5 for now.

Right now it looks like a pretty tough schedule...I would be very happy with 9-7 or 10-6 and another wild card berth. I can't see 12 wins happening, but I would love it.

How did Baltimore lose their "best" defensive player? They still have Ed Reed, Terrell Suggs, Samari Rolle, Chris McCalister, Ray Lewis, and Haloti Ngata...that's a pretty sick defense and 4 of those guys are better than an overrated 30+ year old Adalius Thomas.

I'll play too, obviously it's still very early and alot can change btw now and the season but just for fun:

Week 1- New England- W. I agree w/ his thinking, I think we split and I'll say we get the W at home even though we haven't beaten NE at home since 2000. Interesting #: We are 0-6 at home vs NE since 2001.

Week 2- at Baltimore- L. We always struggle against the ravens, their O isn't nearly as bad as he thinks, they have mcgahee who always kills us. I thnk we'll have a chance but fall short. Interesting #s: We are 1-4 all time vs. the Ravens and 0-2 at M&T Stadium(or whatever they call it now)

Week 3- Miami- W. I think Miami will be better than last year but so will we and as long as Chad is playing we'll win. Interesting #s: Chad is 6-1 as a starter against Miami(lone loss week 17 '03), the Jets are 8-1 at home vs. Miami since 1998.

Week 4- at Buffalo- L. we always seem to split w/ Buf, usually it's the home team winning although both road teams won last year. interesting #: at Buffalo- Travis henry('01-'03) 82 rushes, 431 yds, 5.3 YPC4 TDs . Willis McGahee('04-'06) 92 rushes, 425 yds, 4.6 YPC, 2 TDs. Let's hope Lynch dosn't pick up where the others left off.

Week 5- at Giants- W. we are long overdue for a W against the Giants. I don't thnk they'l be as bad as some think(I think as great as Tiki was he's addition by subtraction) but we'll be better. Interesting #: giants currently hav 3 game win streak, the longest streak in the series. Previous high was 2 held by both teams.

Week 6- Philly- W. We have NEVER beaten Philly in the reg season. We are really due against them. Interesting #: Jets are 0-3 at home against the Eagles, last 2 home losses vs. philly- Jets blew 21-0 lead in '93 and 20-7 4th qtr lead in '96.

Week 7- at Cincinnati- L. That offense is a bad matchup for us, unless kimo strikes again we come out w/ the L. Interesting #s: Jets have won last 5matchups w/ Cincy but are 1-4 in last 4 at Cincy. This is also 1st visit to Paul Brown Stadium- last visit to Cincy was a W in 1997 at Riverfront Stadium.

Week 8- Buffalo- W. The home team generally wins in this series and the Jets get the split vs Buf at home. Interesting #: Jets are 7-2 at home vs. Buf since 1998.

Week 9- Washington- W. Another team we are due against, I think Wash will be alot better this year, I like Jason Campbell but we spoil Moss' homecoming as Coles has a huge day against his former team. Interesting #: We are 0-3 at home all time vs. Washington.

    Week 10- Bye

Week 11- Pittsburgh- W. I am not sure what to think about Pitt, if Cowher was still there I'd say pitt would be a SB threat but I don't how good of a HC Tomlin will be. Interesting #: We are 2-15 all-time against Pitt in the reg season w/ our only 2 wins coming at home by a total of 10 points.

Week 12- at Dallas- W. A little like Pitt I like the talent they have but don't know about the coach. Unlike Tomlin we know Wade isn't a good HC and we had alot of success against wade Phillips teams in the past. Interesting #s: Wade Philips is 3-5 againsts the Jets all-time. after losing first 4 to Dallas(4th was repacement game) the Jets and Cowboys have alternated wins- Jets in '90 nd '9, dal in '93 and '03.

Week 13- at Miami- L. I hate to say it but I think Miami splits w/ us. Green isn't great but he's better than what they had a year ago and I think they'll have enough to split w/ us. Interesting #: Jets are 6-3 at Miami since 1998.

Week 14- Cleveland- W. We owe them for last year, a game that could have cost us a postseason spot. We won't fool around w/ them tis time, I expect Cle to be out of it by this point and Quinn to be starting. Interesting #: Our last home win against Cleveland was 1990(we have only played once at home since then- 2002)

Week 15- at NE- L. Again, I expect a split and it might be the other way around but I'll give the pats the W en route to another div title. Interesting #: We have lost 8 of 9 against NE(including playoffs).

Week 16- at Tenn- W. I think expectaions w/ Young will be a little higher and they'll take a step back before making a playoff run in 2008. Interesting #: We are 3-0 against Tennessee beating the Ten Oilers in '98 and the Titans in '03 and '06. We scored 24 in '98, 24 in '03 and 3 last year so expect 23-24 points will win the game:grin:

Week 17- KC- W. I don't see good things for the chiefs this year and this game should be for playoff position so I expect a W. Interesting #: its been a series of 2's lately, the Chiefs won 2 straight('88,'92) then the Jets('98,'01) and now KC has done it again('02, '05).

That says 11-5, it might be a little optimistic but as ong as we are healthy I think we'll be in the 9-11 win range.

I think you're closer but I see a loss at Dallas and at Miami with Green. 8-8 overall.

i like the original post. It gives a short guess at each game and doesn't take itself too seriously (so other people shouldn't). I especially would like if that's how our season *begins* and if we stay healthy, I think we are going to have a head start on most teams. Go Jets

    no...you...didnt

besides you're a homer. we're not gonna start 2-0. i would be extremely happy with 1-1 but 0-2 is a little more realistic. after that we could win about 4 in a row until cincy arrives.

i'd be happy with a wildcard.

pretty interesting....considering that NE has vastly improved the real weak spot from last year. i think this game will be a big test for the team, the first of many this season. i think we have a good shot at winning the game, but def not as sure as you....i still think we open up at 0-1 though.

didnt balt address their aging RB with willis? wouldnt that make their offense better right off the bat? while i think we win the game, i wouldnt shit on balt....balt still has a quality defense....and ray lewis is still their best defensive player....event when AT was on the team. 1-1

maybe you missed the fact miami got a QB this offseason...and their defense is still good....and added the overrated, but still solid joey porter, to that squad. i dont think miami is getting owned this season. they have a real chance to be tough. the game will be tough....2-1

depending on how lynch fits in and if losman continues his end of year play buff could be strong. do we ever win there? 2-2

giants are a trainwreck, no doubt. 3-2

wouldnt the percentages say were due for a win? 4-2

this "badly coached" team can score with the best. their defense isnt great, but servicable. 4-3

again this is dependant pn lynch/losman, but i think we split the season with buff....5-3

wash is gonna have a rough season, but for some reason i see this as a game that can be one of those bite us in the ass games that at the end of the season we could be looking at and saying "if we won that game we make the playoffs"....5-4

pitt wont repeat their woes from last year. they got some new blood in there and will def be a much more competitive team this season. imo this is one of those one play 'make or break' games.....with the addition of TJ i think we make that play too....6-4

dallas has a quality team, and if romo can find his early season form from last season the nfc east can be had by dallas. a solid defense holds chad in check here.....6-5

again, miami is an improved team....who knows how cameron will coach though. i think he gets his feet under him by this point in the season and the phish pull this one out....6-6

with the additions the browns made on draft day they are a better team than the one that stole a win last year....but with quinn at QB by this point i think this becomes a very winnable game. 7-6

with NE improved and clicking getting ready for the playoffs i dont think we will win this one. i dont see a split with them this year....i see a sweep....unfortunately going their way. 7-7

vince young is good, but too bad so sad for him his team isnt. having nobody to throw to or run behind him will hurt....we roll.....8-7

LJ will be back by this point, if he doesnt get to the team by opening day. hes got money to be made. if he doesnt get traded (which i cant see happening unless they decide to implode the team) and barring injury hes in the lineup....but herm and his ability to manage a game is KCs biggest liability....we HAVE to win this game....so i say we do....plus, the jets are def a better team than KC. 9-7

i think 12-4 is a fairytale....the AFC is too tough and were not THAT good. we could certainly win another game or 2 depending on the breaks....but i think 9 or 10 wins is it. 11 would be awsome, and 12 (IMO) is just not realistic.....the pats will win the div...f they dont and we do ill be shocked, and a happy asshole. the pats are a much better team than the one that went to the afc title game.....and thats scary.

on paper the pats are the best team in the conference. and i think thats going to translate to the field again.....were another year away from really having a shot at the div......i think we could make the playoffs....im sure ill have at least 2 or 3 games wrong....either way though. not neccessarily the losses.....i hope youre as right as you are optimistic....
