I don not hate any NYJs player as you allege. All I am saying which I guess you find so very hard to grasp is that IMHO he is not a SB caliber player nor a dominant MLB. Gee whiz I would expect after last season you & every JV lover would have already come to the same conclusion that he is UNPRODUCTIVE & for sure for us to win a SB the last thing we need is UNPRODUCTIVE players As for my supposed FU logic that you allege tell me what the regular season is played for it if you do not believe it is played to win the SB & if you do not win the SB then you are NOT the best making us losers again just like we have done for the last 38 years. Thanks for your reply in advance
OK then you also explain to all of us what the regular season is played for if it is not to win the SB. Instead of berating me tell all of us why you are happy with NOT winning the CHAMPIONSHIP because anything less means we are again losers just like we have been for the last 38 years.
Aren't you the clown who lives in TX? I'm just asking that you find a tall bridge and save Petro the expense of paying for any additional bandwidth needed to host your meaningless banter.
I don't jump for joy if we don't win the Super Bowl - I don't think anyone is truly happy if we don't win it all. But the difference between you and 99% of the rest of the population is that we don't hold a personal vendetta against a team if it doesn't win it all. I know that there are 32 teams in the league, and only one is going to win each year - not exactly the greatest odds - so I've come to realize that we most likely won't win the Super Bowl. But that doesn't mean I can't enjoy watching the Jets play - especially if they are making progress and heading in the right direction to eventually win one. Based on your rationale, you would be just as happy to have a 0-16 team as a 15-1 team that loses the Super Bowl. I just can't watch the game that way - I want my team to win every game, none of this "if you ain't first your last" bullshit. Don't get me wrong, I want them to win every game, but I also realize just how difficult that is and that losses are bound to happen. Long story shot - I love football, and I love the Jets because the games and season as a whole are so exciting, and if those games and that season lead to winning a Super Bowl then it's just the icing on the cake. But hell, I have no problem eating my cake without icing....
See that is where you I would say diverge tracks. I do not think they are making progress & can easily name 5 or more NYJ players that are IMHO are nowhere near SB caliber on the present team. Also it is clearly beginning to show that Eric just like Herm before him is playing UNPRODUCTIVE players because he likes them not because of there abilities. I to would get super excited when I see IMHO that they can really/truly compete for the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP. By your signature I guess you to feel Chad is not one of the SB caliber players presently on the NYJs. Look I pay for DirecTV for no other reason then to watch the NYJs play so I would not make such a investment if I did not like to watch FB & the NYJs in particular. But the facts are the facts & no matter how it is sliced the NYJs are still eons away from a SB caliber team. If you believe anything else then sorry to say I think you are rationalizing the unrational. If my beliefs do not coincide with yours that is no reason to berate somebody because our views are different on the same subject
Pretty much sums up my feelings Predator. I love the Jets and I'll support them no matter if they're good or bad. I'll watch every game, win or loss. If I can't watch it live, I won't record it only to not watch it if I find out they lost. That, to me, is not a fan. Not even close. I watch the Jets because it's a hobby for me. If they win the Super Bowl, great, as I'll be very happy. But the difference between me and that grumpy old man in Texas is that football is not my life. If they don't win, it's not the end of the world. If they don't win, it won't turn me to someone who is miserable all of the time. It's just a game. Someone around here really needs to try to grasp that very simple concept.
Holy molley if you think that the NYJs are "my" life you are so far off base you ought to start to think of what you are posting before you post it. Additionally now prove this allegation that you posted. I bet you cannot suppoort this one anymore then any of the others you have made over time. Look it is quite clear you & I have different views of the NYJs which is fine & does not mean you have to berate someone because there ideas/views do not coincide with yours.
Of course we all want the Jets to win the Super Bowl, any idiot knows that much. It doesn't have to be repeated ad nauseum all year long, we all know what the goal is. Shit, I'm 40 years old and I at least want to see the Jets appear in a Super Bowl before I drop dead. All my life I've pictured the field with one of the end zones painted up in our colors, Jet players on TV for two weeks, the white and green helmets running out on the field in front of the whole country, and I just want to see it for myself once. Winning the game would be off the charts, I don't know what I'd even do. But the fun is in the climb, watching the games as we go along. Going week by week to try and lock up the division and the bye like we did in 1998, then to win in the playoffs. I'll tell you this much, if it ever happens it will mean a lot more to me than the couple times I saw the Dodgers win the World Series when I was young or even the Devils' three Stanley Cups. This has been a lifelong quest. But having said all that, you can't so wrapped up in the ultimate goal that you can't appreciate the process as we go along, that's what it's all about. Otherwise you're just miserable your whole life. Judging from when the Dodgers and Devils won, a few days later you're anxious for them to get back out there and defend the title because the fun is in the competition and the quest. Sorry for the long rant, but I'm tired of being told I'm not as good or as smart a fan because I'm not obsessed with winning it all and everything about the Jets sucks if we don't. I don't see it that way at all.
This is where you are switch tracks because I do not see the so called "progress" you see. In fact I can easily give you 5 current NYJs starters that are not anywhere near SB caliber players & would leave JV out of the equation cause he would make 6 & CP would make 7. You are surely entitled to disagree with my views but just like you I have mine & just because they do not coincide is no reason for you to berate me plain & simple. Just to let you know which I am sure you are aware of the NYJs have been making "progress" now for 38 years & have gotten nowhere they are right back where they started 38 years ago. Once the SB caliber players are gone & have been upgraded to SB quality players then I will immediately PM you of when I see that occurring. Since we know our views are different then it would be best to just agree to disagree
Not surprisingly, champ, you missed my entire point. I said "process", not "progress", so everything else you said goes into the champ/garbage file. Which needs to be emptied daily, by the way.
When you constantly live in the past, you can not enjoy anything in the present. And I'm talking in general, not just the Jets. Stop dwelling on things that happened 38 years ago and move on to 2007.
See that is where you erred since we were losers as currently as last year that being 2006 not 38 years ago. Facts are facts & the FACT is the NYJs have won NOTHING in the last 38 years which is a historical fact. It is part of team history just like winning SB3 is or NEVER winning a AFC championship or still having a overall under 500 record since they began as the Titans
