I've always loved the sound of Vin Scully. I hate Joe Buck (except for the slama-lama-ding dong commercial). Scully and Garagiola were a good team
I'm a firm believer that the reason people don't like Joe Buck has a direct parallel with what FOX asks him to do. Their production is full of gimmicks and things that call on him to do things that are out of character. I think if you put any announcer in a situation like that, he won't come off well since everything is forced.
Remy and Orscillo. Hands down the best broadcasting team in baseball. The play by play and analysis are dead on and they are absolutely hilarious.
Even if I wasn't a Sox fan, I still would say that. I have yet to hear another broadcast team that comes close to the entertainment value of those two. http://youtube.com/watch?v=J8y9o04SXi0 http://youtube.com/watch?v=h0IacRFJMgY http://youtube.com/watch?v=7jVASNs0x-8 http://youtube.com/watch?v=7hrn5fQ5-Z0 I can't find the best one. The Sox were blowing out Toronto and fans were throwing paper airplanes in the stands. Orsillo made his own and threw it out the window, but it sucked and hit a guy directly below them. About ten to fifteen minutes of hilarity followed.
Scully is by far the best but I like buck and McCarver. i know I am in the minority but I think they do a good job. I also liked when Costas was calling games for NBC in the late 90s. NBC was he best at covering baseball, it's a shame they had to go to FOX exclusively and now are adding TBS this october.
That's a fair point, I'd like to see him call a few games for the Cardinals. On top of that he's probably a bit over exposed. I've got nothing against him, it's his Fox partner I can't listen to.
If anyone has NESN and is interested, they are having a "Best of" show with regards to the broadcast team. It should be hilarious. EDIT: It's on Sunday at 5 I believe.
Miller and Morgan aren't as horrible as people make them out to be, in my opinion, but they're still not very good. Miller is ok, Morgan sucks.
The more I hear Jon Miller's voice, the more I hear him stumble over words, the more I hear him botch calls, and the more I hear him make multiple unintelligent and asinine comments, the more I wish I was deaf.
