Newsday several days ago. Oops wrong newspaer here it is http://www.nj.com/jets/ledger/index.ssf?/base/sports-0/1181881355275260.xml&coll=1
I don't even know what you're trying to say here, champ, so it's hard to respond. But I'll try because you're a funny old man. If TB=Tom Brady, yes, as I said, he sat out his first year as Clemmens did, so is that "Failure Street"? Not sure what you're trying to say there. And it was me who said they drafted Clemmens because they needed QBs in camp and that was the case. But since he's still here and two of the veterans he was competing with aren't, he couldn't have done too badly. Once again, if you had a point it was muddled.
Because KC is not getting snaps I am saying he maybe traveling down that Failure St. Now you got it? & to use a 2nd round pick on a draft choice who may not start for many, many years is just silly at least IMHO. If you think differently fine but to make a whirlwind tour draft him with a hi draft choce when we have so many other needs give him a bonus then sit him is just plain not smart IMHO. Also you can hanging onto whom CP defeated in his quest to be #1 & the list is pretty weak if you ask me making look it like it was rigged for CP from day one. Lets see Bolly real strong right? KC another weakling? Now they have Tuis, KC & whatever training camp fodder they may have brought in. Really not sterling competition this year as well
How do you know he's not getting snaps? Brady, the guy whose situation you're comparing KC's to, was barely getting any game action before going in. You just never know in this crazy sport. Anything can happen.
Exactly. They bought in a Rookie and a bunch of bums and people talk about how he won the competition when he played against nobody. Let's see him beat our Jeff Garcia or somebody half decent.
Most QBs don't start right away, again Brady as a prime example, so I don't see what the problem is. Using a #2 for a QB is no big deal, we had two #1 choices ahead of that to address other positions. Regardless of who the veteran QBs were, for a rookie to come in and make both expendable by season's end is pretty good. Nobody knew if Chad could come back off of two surgeries and win 10 games, so to me it was a solid pick. The fact that Chad did make it back and Clemmens didn't have to jump right in there is that much better for us. Once again, you have to look at where we were at the time, we had no #1 QB to hang our hat on. Where do you think you just go get quality QBs? They grow on trees? If we had a top notch healthy #1 QB then there wouldn't have been a need to bring guys in for competition in the first place, like this year.
I only brought it up to explain the success comment without you lapsing into a complete rerun, which you did anyway. The main point was Pennington, not your warped version of success.
Maybe just maybe it is your HO that is warpped concerning what is success in sports. As for CP as I said before he does not have what it takes to bring us the CHAMPIONSHIP that at least some of us desire.
They fail to realize that taking us to the playoffs means nothing. The only think that a first rd playoff loss gets you is a worse draft pick than the 30th team in the league. Don't get me wrong I think we have a coach that can fix this mess but at the end of the day a top ten pick would have been better than that massacre in Ne last year.
So you want either a championship or a top 10 pick? Nice to know where you stand on this. So if they don't win it all you would prefer that they absolutely suck? That's what needs to happen to get a top 10 pick.
Draft picks are such a shot in the dark, I don't understand wanting to be bad just for a higher pick. Blair Thomas went #2, Emmit Smith went something like #20 in the same draft. I'll take the playoffs every time. You can't win the championship without first reaching the playoffs, I can't stress that enough. You gotta be in it to win it.
Depends on the team. This team is not ready to win. Adrian Peterson, A top 10 Dt or Cb would have been better than last years loss to me. Plus we could have gotten Revis and not traded away the rest of our draft so we could have shored up our Defense. The Jets are not built to win now so I would prefer to prepare for the future.
So if we're not built to win a championship, you would prefer we suck to get a top 10 pick? That's just a defeatist attitude. At least champ's "win it all or you're a loser" philosophy I can understand and partially agree with. Your "if you can't win you might as well suck" philosophy is completely backwards.
I have a take a step backwards to take two steps forward approach. Instead of stepping backwards in 06 we will be doing it in 07!
Yes trust me concerning what U posted about the POs I am in total agreement with. I also understand what you are saying about draft picks that it maybe possible to strenghten the team quicker being worse then being a PO team that gets ousted in the 1st round of the POs. Concerning CP if Eric is a genius as some are saying then he to will see all the warts CP brings to the table & will do exactly the same as Shanny did in Den between Plum & JC. Just like with Herm the sands of time will be quickly catching up to CP
A top 10 pick is no guarantee of a superstar. You can find talent in the bottom of the first round just as easily as in the top. Mangold was taken with a later first round pick and he's turned out well so far. Rooting for your team to do poorly so they get a higher draft pick is the most retarded thing I've ever heard.
