No, only the Yankees. Great, even if we don't lose ground, we can make the playoffs with a near/below .500 record and exit quickly. I can't wait.
Do Mets fans realize that Wang ended second in Cy Young voting last year, behind Johan Santana? Also, he pitched a no-hitter into the 7th inning not very long ago. You're not facing a slouch on the mound.
Dude, you guys hit a rough patch. It's only been, what, two weeks? Our rough patch lasted almost 2 months, and left us trying to climb out of the basement. If you were playing like this in August, I'd say you might want to get worried. We're not even at the All-Star break yet.
Even so, it's 15 pitches. Take a pitch for God's sake. The Mets offense is above that. Or so I thought. It's a lineup of gutless hitters. I'm not trying to discredit the Yankees at all, but a lineup like the Mets shouldn't be pulling this shit. I'm not talking about this game or series alone, but the entire month of June. It's just completely asinine, embarassing, and downright ignorant.
My point is, it's EXACTLY what the Yankees were doing just a few weeks ago. You have nothing to worry about. You will win the division, mark my words.
I don't mean to disparage a guy, but doesn't Beltran seem to be getting a bad jump on balls these past couple games? He's still making the play, but he just seems to be getting a bad start. -------------------- And I'm going to repeat the question right now, given that last play. What is the general problem with Mets fans with Green? He seems like a very good RF to me.
well, you saw how they were capable of playing before this slide. Don't think you won't see it again. These kind of slides sometimes bring out the best in a team (see yankees last 2 weeks). Its better for them to get this shit out of their system now, especially while you continue to have the div lead.
But now would not be the time to face the Yankees or Detroit in the World Series. Mets would get swept. AND the Yankees will get there at least as the Wild Card and be a real threat to get to the World SERIOUS ( as my young daughter says).
Of course, but as I said, and typeO just said as well, it's better to get this out of your system now, weeks before the All-Star game, rather than 2 months from now, when it can be the difference between playing in October, or watching the games at home.
It's kind of deceiving though. Going into today, the Sox had an 8 1/2 game lead. One month ago, they had an 8 game lead. So in the last month, they've actually picked up a half game. Yes, they gained 6 or whatever in two weeks, but they lost 6 the two weeks prior to that. Basically, the Sox were able to take a month off the season and not lose any ground. I'll take it.
Well my wife made fillet mignon and lobster tail for dinner, so going to turn the game off now before I throw up. Great week-end Yankee fans. Hopefully will see you guys in the post season.
Yeah, but again, I'm concerning myself with the WC, not the division. Catching up to Boston is just cool.
yeah but the Yankees are playing much better and the Sox still good,ut cooled off a bit with lots of baseball left to play. Catching up for the division is not probably, but not impossible.
thats the "glass is half full" approach, reality is that the Yankees are finally playing ball the way they are used to and its not going to be as easy for the BoSox to win the division as you may think
I noticed the same thing. On both of the fly balls he caught (which looked like nice plays if you didn't watch his initial break), he was slow to react and got bad breaks. They didn't need to be that exciting.
