i dont see anything wrong with what vilma said. it's like if you dont get all pissed off and call for vicks head then you're for dog fighting. some people just dont give a shit, and that's different from CONDONING dog fighting. vilma is just one of those people that dont give a shit. i feel the same way, doesnt mean i support dog fighting.
We can't all benefit such as you Marcus, by having a brother so up to speed on the genius of dog fighting now can we?
IMO i think that everybody who is like how dog fighting is cruelty to animals are big time hypocrites. For the simple fact that wether it be Boxing, Ultimate Fighting, American Football which all of us wake up sunday's and look forward to seeing. These Athletes go into there respective arenas and blood is shed, as a matter of fact if there isnt blood shed or somebody beaten to a pulp you feel like you've been cheated in some way. You not only want Johnathen Vilma, Kerry Rhodes, Thomas Jones, Andre Dyson etc to make good plays and tackles or runs. You want them to hit that person so hard there helmets fly off or you want them to run so hard they just truck everybody and go in for the touchdown. Call me crazy but Is that not cruelty, abuse, barbaric but yet we all sit back and cheer, yell, slap high fives, scream til our voices are horse for work the next day when stuff like that happens. You want players like wayne chrebet, al toon and many more players in the nfl to give there mind body and souls in the game. Then in the end when they dont fit up to your standards you just disgard of them like garbage. Then in the end you dont even have a decent pension after you've been abused so how cruel is that!!! But then you turn around and say well two dogs going up against one another as a sport is cruel. How ironic is that to then turn around and be like two or more humans fighting against each other in a sport is entertainment!!!
You are right that horse racing is not dog fighting, but the more I hear about horse racing the more I think it isn't much better than dog fighting. In both you are removing the animals from their habitat. Secondly, both alters the animals lives to the point that the animal is screwed up forever. And lastly, both force the animals to do acts for monetary gain. Therefore, I do think that if you are burying dog fighting you would only be an hypocrite if you lift up horse racing
You brought up a point but it is weak for this reason, when it comes to animal cruelty, the animals are forced into those situations. When you are talking about gladiator-like sports, the person does it for their own free will and for the most part gets paid a lot of money to do something that the person wants to do. That is a huge difference in situations. If however you rounded up a bunch of homeless people or just about anyone and force them to do your bidding for entertainment it would make your point valid.
yes but cruel is cruel you cant say a price negates cruelity... What about things like people in africa who get there arms chopped off for what we like to call here bling bling aka diamonds. But nobody looks or comments on stuff like that that has been going of for 30-40 years already.. Just as long as its out of sight its out of mind is what they say. Whole villages and families get tooken out in one day Genocide 100's of thousand of people were slaughtered but no one says a thing..
The definition of CRUEL.. willfully or knowingly causing pain or distress to others. Does that not describe American football.
Cruel is only cruel if suffering is involved. The reason for the rules in the sports you mentioned earlier is so that cruelty doesn't take place. The reason for the pads, referees and umpires is so that cruelty doesn't take place. If you remove those things than you have something, but when you have all these precautions to ensure that a person isn't at risk and they are in it on their own free will and at times even enjoys the sport it is not possible to call it cruelty
i think cruel is cruel no matter if you try to put refs, money, rules, etc from the defintion willfully or knowingly causing pain or distress to others. cruel is cruel no matter if you dress it up like a pig in a wig it is what it is.
Well the only pain that i'd feel playing football would be with an injury, but that isn't taking place or is willfully trying to be done. The reason for helmets, pads and people to enforce that safeguard the players is to avoid pain not cause it. And unless you are talking about a fluke play that happens at complete random there isn't any distress to others, so no you aren't talking about American football
What about college football players who get paid nothing but yet the institute they attend makes millions of billions of dollars off there name.. but yet they get in trouble and kicked of of school for accepting money for other sources. but yet turn around and tell them im contract that they are not allowed to work in college. Thas Cruel
I boxed and played football for free. I loved both sports and really enjoyed playing and watching them. I would never advocate anyone doing it if they didn't want to, we all have free will. To a dog to fight is not about free will, enjoyment and competition, it has been beat into them. I don't see the hypocrisy at all.
They are getting paid thousands of dollars in free education, and if you don't think that is something then you aren't very bright, and for some of them they are given more chances than normal students just because they play athletics. So they should be smart enough to know the rules and smart enough to know how strict the NCAA is with rules. So no when I have to pay my college loans that add up to upwards to more than $75,000 and that is just for my bachelors, for the people who aren't going professional, they have a much larger advantage then most new grads by not being in debt to start out things.
Have you been down south or middle america or anywhere for the matter.. where you seen players forced to play football because his father player or brother played of his family had this or that amount of state championships. where you go and the whole town shuts down to go the game and thats all there is there are players who get put in that situation!! Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5 were forced to be who they are today and do you really think after all the millions they made there upset.... My point is that if you are trained from when your young that something isnt cruel odds are you gonna believe it isnt cruel..
Yes you get a free education granted its a beautiful thing but does it really equal out??? The millions of dollars you receive just for going to a bowl doesnt compare to at most a $200,000 education. And they put a certain amount of time on when you can come out of college to the nfl. So its not like they can say forget college and just go to the pros and if you didnt go to college most nfl teams wont even think about you.
I agree many people abuse their children, their spouses and their pets, I don't applaud any of it. I would also bet that any one willing to abuse their pets have very little trouble abusing their wives, girl friends and children.
yes i totally agree with you.. Im not condoning the dog fights its just theres always two sides to a coin and different angles you could look at this from...
The value of the education shouldn't only be placed in the money value because of what you could do with that education which is why people are willing to go to debt to obtain the education. And as for the time barrier, the reason for that time is so that you can be fully developed in your ability so that it doesn't turn into a cruelty. And plus if the person isn't good enough to do well in the collegiate ranks than they don't deserve to be in the NFL
I think we can all agree that dog lovers are against dog fighting and dog indifference people (like me) think that their are a lot of other animals out there being abused and could benefit from all the care and concern that all the dog lovers are showing. Unfortunately, for them that is. this won't happen....... lucky bitches!! (i.e the female dogs)
