The New York Jets have signed free agent wide receiver Evan Prall of East Stroudsburg and waived wide receiver Renard Stevens. The announcement was made by Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Prall (5'11", 182) recorded 236 receptions and set Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference records for career receiving yards (4,093) and touchdowns (50) over his four-year career at the Division II school, where he also returned kickoffs (38-774) and punts (15-182).

As a junior, he was named a second-team All-American after he totaled a school-record 88 receptions for 1,766 yards and 23 touchdowns. He was signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by Arizona on May 1 and was waived on May 29.

Stevens was originally signed by the Jets as an undrafted rookie free agent on May 15.

i agree, but i like what theyre doing. this reminds me of when mangini said he will "turn over every rock" to find the players hes looking for. the guy had amazing production at a lower level of competition. maybe theyre just looking for lightning in a bottle.

either way it never hurts to try.

Hey, you never know...that's what makes it fun!

(preemptive defense: I'm not saying he's gonna make it, just that you never know. That kid from Hofstra a decade or so ago would have also been fairly labeled "training camp fodder"!)

Yes I agree nothing ventured nothing gained but what I questioned is he is a scatback & with noodle arm happy feet QB maybe a 6'5" guy would have been better & for sure there have to be some of those out there also

I think it's a great move in a lot of ways. His production has to count for something and he'll be a great addition considering his work-ethic and toughness. There is a great link at the times-tribune website out of Scranton comparing him to Chrebet, absolutely worth taking a look at.
