On top of that, the budget allotment for the CB position would increase drastically.....is it worth it?
I have read things that have alluded to that fact and I think that, in retrospect, it was not the right decision (yes, hindsight is 20/20). The facts that 1) Brady had no "go to" WR all year which ended up being their undoing in the championship game 2) the pats had to roll the dice/overpay for questionable WRs this season 3) they still really haven't really gotten any value for Branch, makes it a bad decision. (Merriweather would have been there at their own pick which they subsequently traded away. So the pats pretty much traded Branch and a chance at another super bowl for a bunch of ??? at WR and a first round pick next season.) Yes, the move was the right one at the time, but I don't think anyone (even the Pats) realized the importance of Branch to Brady and the offense.
The Patriots won't skip a beat without Asante. It's a non story in Boston. He's a product of a great d-line. He wants 8 years 80 million. You can have him.
i think hes overrated but i definitely think hes better than who youve got behind him. i mean way better. you guys could make it without him but even if his stats are product of the front 7 i wouldnt expect anything more than 3 picks from whoever were to replace him. point in case as a jets fan id be happy to see him gone, but in the end I really dont care. hes not amazing, and if people even think for a second hes whats separating us from winning over the pats, then we dont deserve to win.
NEVER gonna give the Pats 2 first rounders....i doubt they would get 1 out of us for any player.....2 first rounders (even if 1 of them is #32  ) is a high price to pay to a div rival who will need to begin restacking the team..... hopefully assante sticks it to the Pats as hard as possible, and in 08 hes in green and white.....id be hard for a month!
rhodes? lmao....he wont get to 1 year left on his contract before he gets his payday. the guys a stud.....and i doubt he could keep his lunch down with the stink comming out of boston....
since when has welker been this amazing reciever. they make him sound like a number 1 reciever whos forced into the slot due to the AMAZING talent they have. moss will open up the run game, ok thats a fact. but his consistency is still in question. stallworth is a home run hitter. thats dangerous but guess what, thats about all he is. brady lives on short passes, another distraction . welker is a special teamer with decent hands. enough said.
them getting welker baffled me.....until they got moss....welker is a STer and a mediocre WR at his best....i was laughing at the notion hed be one of the "guys" on offense. he gives them a solid returner though....but stallworth/moss is a pretty solid starting duo at the position... the pats def made a glaring weakness last year a lot stronger without really weakening any other skill positions.....thats scary....but it wont be too much longer (a year or so) before foxboro implodes.....AND I CANNOT WAIT!!!!!!!
Everybody is still missing the point of the article. There is no way the Jets will give up 2 first rounders for Samuel, or just about anybody for that matter. The point is they are having him in for a visit, and maybe persuade him to sit the 10 games out and sign him next year.
Did anybody forget that Dyson is a great #2 and if revis lives up to his #1 potential there is no way in hell we pay what samuel wants, picks or no picks. We didn't even sign Adalius to a reasonable contract without picks and we really could have used the help at LB...no way we will spend the money on samuel even after the season. Mark it down. NJJ
Actually we'll let Washington handle this one. Unfortunately that'll be a top 10 pick likely in return but what can you do? Deion Branch for Brandon Meriweather is going to be the first step in the Pat's collapse. Just watch.
Though he woud be a great addition to our secondary and we would be ranked as a top passing defense. I dont know if we should part with two first round draft picks just to obtain him.. i say wait til next year when he is a ufa and then take a crack at him..
We would essentially be rolling the dice getting this guy. We don't need these "Alpha Dog", narcissists.
Does anyone think we should have signed keyshawn back when released? He spent his greatest years with the Jets, although he abandoned us badly, I've had time to recover and I truly love the guy and what he meant to us in 98. I think it wouldve been a harmless experiment to get him back. If he failed, oh well, if he prospered, great! I love Keysh I'de love to see him back, if anything it wouldve at least tried to match the Patriots with Moss.
why live in the past when we are trying to move forward.... though I loved at the time bill parcells herman edwards etc... i dont wish them back to the organization in hopes of rekindling past woulda should coulda's
As a Pats fan, I'm hoping the Pats trade Assante's ass as soon as possible. I'd rather not trade him within the division, but if the Jets and Pats come to an agreement, say a player and picks, then I would still be happy with it. Good luck Jet fans! I am hoping to see Assante in green next year....or at least any color but red, blue, and silver.
