http://www.profootballtalk.com/rumormill.htm While I'm not sure this is the most ethical thing to do, I'm glad that we're doing this to the Patriots, especially after the reports of tampering charges regarding the whole Deion Branch situation.
When you are dealing with rivals, everything goes, because I know the Pats would do the exact same thing if things were reversed
how do you stop moss, stallworth and welker ....... samuel, dyson and revis makes sense if you look at it this way but still a ton to give up .
I don't think we're saying that the Jets will give up two firsts this year, but rather let the guy know we're interested and just land him as a FA when he's on the open market next year- no draft picks necessary, though it would cost a bundle in $.
It will never happen. If Samuels follows through and starts sitting out, NE will trade hime for whatever they can get, as they did with Branch last year, to anybody BUT the jets.
Samuels and Dyson starting is a pretty formidable duo. Then Revis at the nickel spot training would be sweet. But I think it's not really neccessary, since Dyson is still young and productive, and we just invested alot of picks into Revis.
Good point there. Better to get something for him then to let him walk over to your rival. And who knows, maybe he is bluffing and will attend things when they are mandatory....just look at the stunt the Kendall tried to pull.
If anything maybe we can raise the price if the Pats choose to resign. Samuel really isnt needed, we can not afford to trade away 2 1's when we have holes at G, T, OLB, DE, NT and WR
IMO our dealings with Branch came back to bite us in the ass as NE ended up getting a first for a good not great WR.. We have no shot at Samuel this year and talking to him now does nothing for us. All franchised players threaten to sit out and not very many end up doing so. I'd rather he just play the year and walk for nothing next offseason than NE getting another high pick for a good not great player. All we are accomplishing by talking to him now is driving the price up if NE decides to trade him.
Who says he is gonna be able to walk next year? Did he sign a Sean Alexander type deal where they wouldn't be able to franchise him the next year?
I hate the whole franchise tag, I understand that there is a reason to put it into place but the rule should be changed to where you only get franchised ONCE before you get your contract. BTW I would love Asante...Revis/Dyson/Asante is unstoppable, essp. with our linebackers.
How great would it be if our defense was unstoppable? Then all we'd have to do is work on making our offense impenetrable.
bingo some chump will be willing to pay, but one good year, gimme a break. im not sold yet and neither are the jets, theyre trying to get cute like the branch situation . you nailed it
Revis/Dyson/Samuel sounds like an awesome CB trio....but expensive. Maybe Revis/Dyson/Oliver may be more fiscally sound.
