Apparently Clemens is out on Monday with soreness in his right groin and will be replaced by Igawa. No link yet, it was said on the air during the game.

Roger has been one of my favorite players since his Texas days. I'm not saying this to be inflammatory, and I realize that I'm making a slanderous statement without evidence - I'd be willing to be Roger is cycling HGH (or something), and needs the extra time to finish the cycle. For the obscene money he's making, and with the obscene fanfare of his signing, he just can't afford to be mediocre, and needs every ounce of help he can get. That's my gut talking. Have at it.
I love how, during the Yankee/Sox game yesterday, Kevin Kennedy tried to break down how Clemens got hurt. --- *Video of pitch rolls* Kennedy: "Watch here, look at his right groin." --- First of all, how are you supposed watch someones' groin...fatigue itself? And I wonder how much time he's spent looking at the Rocket's groin...
Honestly, I have to side with SJ here. The first thing I thought when I heard the news is that this is steroid-related. Amazing, last year, Sheffield's twisted wrist keeps him out for 4 months. This year both Giambi and Clemens have mystery injuries that are preventing them from playing for a significant amount of time. I've just about had it with this sport.
thesportsthruth.com Former major leaguer Jason Grimsley outed Roger Clemens and a number of Baltimore Orioles players, including shortstop Miguel Tejada, as steroid users in a sworn affidavit, the Los Angeles Times reports. In June, federal agents searched Grimsley’s home after the pitcher admitted using human growth hormone, steroids and amphetamines. Grimsley was later released by the Arizona Diamondbacks and suspended 50 games by Major League Baseball. In a 20-page affidavit signed by IRS Special Agent Jeff Novitzky, the Times reports, Grimsley identified other players who had used drugs. Those names were blacked out when the document was first released. The agent for Clemens and Andy Pettitte, who was also named by Grimsley, denied the accusations. Grimsley reportedly told investigators Clemens and Pettitte “used athletic performance-enhancing drugs.”
Grimsley also said after that came out that he never mentioned Clemens or pettitte though I would believe Clemens just not pettitte. As far as current steroid users, look no further than your rehabbing ace. A guy who has been around 160 lbs his entire career, a guy who just 2 years ago was working out in the pic below(he's the one on the right) while now he is supposedly near 200 lbs.
Junc has absolutely no evidence to suggest Pedro is using steroids other than his pure hatred and jealousy of Pedro. It's pathetic.
and yo guys have no evidence of Clemens using other thn that false report that came out which was refuted. pedro was topa 170 2 years ago and extremely skinny as you can see in that pic of him working out while last week it was mentioned he is at or near 200 lbs and it's muscle weight. There's no way on that little frame a guy who has been 160-170 lbs most of his career is gaining 30+ lbs of muscle in less than a year.
Well, Pedro says during this rehab, he has cut down drastically on his running and increased his upper body workouts. But it is a fact, that Caribbean players have easier access to performance enhancing drugs (although not the really good stuff) in the islands. That explains Mota and a host of other Caribbean players (yes, Met minor league pitchers too) rash of suspensions.
If we're going to be fair, chances are, Pedro has used something. Just like Roger. At this point, I'm starting to become immune to caring. It's sad, at this point, I almost feel like saying "Just legalize the shit and let everyone do it," just so no one has an advantage. Sadly, I'd be willing to bet that baseball would LOVE that.
Its really sad what these guys do to their body for fame and fortune. A young guy (young for non athlete) in his 30s like Giambi, tearing his plantar fascia? He is no speed demon. No doubt steroids played into this.
I was actually discussing that with my brother yesterday. It's truly sad. Like tragically sad, not even just depressing. We were talking about Giambi specifically. His statement a couple weeks ago, about how he's sorry, and baseball has been wrong, I know, has been the subject of a lot of "yeah, you're sorry you got caught" rhetoric. However, it truly seems like Giambi is more sorry, not about the effect on the game, but on the lasting effects on his body. Can you imagine being a 30 year old man, who being a professional athlete, should be in the best shape a 30 year old should be, feeling like his body is eating itself? Giambi's body is probably so wracked with toxins at this point that his liver is probably breaking down. My brother was likening him to a long-time cocaine abuser, and the physical damage that they suffer through even after getting sober. It's terrible. It's like watching Alzado all over again. Millions of dollars is a lot of money. But is any amount truly worth it? It's not like guys like Clemens, Giambi, and Bonds needed performance enhancers to be elite players. But I guess when someone gives you the "miracle pill" to make you head-and-shoulders better than your peers, and that means an extra $8-10M a year...
