Vick is a dog himself, as shown by his disgusting performance against the lions last season as a 4:1 favorite. He is useless as a quarterback and mails in every other game. The falcons are beyond screwed.

I have a wild theory that Portis and Vick fight dogs in the same circles as some local law enforement authorities and Portis' comments last week were a subtle reminder that names would be named if the celebrity athlete dogfighters were sent up the river.

"I'm sure some police got dogs and fight them, some judges got dogs and everything else."

it sounds like you really love your dog!! You should realize though, not everyone shares that love, and unless it's your dog...

This guy ate a Corgi to prove his point about fox hunting or something like that.

he wimped out though, he ate an already dead one instead of going to the pound and picking one out himself.

Just curious...how much did you donate?

You guys are really showing your ignorance...or love of dogs. While I in no way support dog fighting, there are a lot worse things, like harming a human for instance. This is a cultural problem, not an individual criminal problem. People have been fighting animals since before domestication (the chinese used to throw two bugs in a box and watch). Its just something we dumb monkeys came up with to pass the time. Jesus, its not like the guy was having sex with dead cats he dug up from the pet cemetery. If you love dogs...I get it...otherwise, what's the big deal?

That's fine, everyone doesn't have to love them, but it doesn't mean you abuse, starve and torture them, either. I have no use for cats, I don't think cats like people, but someone who harms a defensless cat to me is also a piece of shit. I'm not the type to throw ketchup on people with fur coats or anything, but I don't get cruelty to animals. Let them be.

so, because it isn't as bad, as say, harming a person, dog fighting isn't a big deal? hardly seems sensible or logical to me. not being as bad as one thing does not mean something else isn't bad in and of itself. how about stealing, that creates a financial inconvenience, but hardly equates to harming. or how about sleeping with somebody's wife, what is your excuse? "hey, it's not like he beat up her husband or harmed him or anything, he just fucked his wife. big deal."

kidnapping and raising someone elses child, not killing or molesting them. the child is fine, you haven'tr harmed it, so what's the big deal? you haven't harmed the parents, either. sure, you have created an emotionally stressful situation, but you haven't "harmed" them. see how ridiculous your criteria for judging the severity of an act is?

Are you fuckin retarded? That fact that you could even equate child molestation to dog abuse shows that you might not have the tightest grip on reality. First of all, all the situations you mentioned involve HUMANS...I have a dog, I love my dog, I do not fight dogs...but when it comes down to sacrificing an animal for our needs, I pick humans every time. Unless you're a vegetarian, you know what I mean. Now this case doesn't involve need per se, but more of a want that is apparently readily available to any interested parties, with a noted subculture in the NFL (a bunch of juiced up guys in a high stress job that need an outlet). All I'm saying is that they're just dogs, and yes, why don't people have more concern for their fellow humans? It seems that this thread is just a bunch of posturing by dog-lovers and vick-haters and not much else. If we put half the energy into looking out for each other as we put into worrying about why we still dissect frogs, we'd all be a lot better off. On a scale of 1-10 of bad things people do, this is a 2, tops. Get over it!

That's your opinion. I had nothing against Michael Vick prior to this, except the night he killed us on MNF. Get off your high horse about all of us looking out for each other. You think someone who tortures animals that can't speak for or defend themselves is going to go out of his way for a lot of people? Again, it's not so much about me being a dog lover as it is my contempt for someone who abuses an animal or a person that can't defend itself. That's where the comparison to kidnapping comes in and to me it's a valid one.

The news report did say that the dogs all looked healthy and with the exception of a few visibly healed old wounds, they were well cared for!!!

If this whole thing becomes too painful for Michael to deal with they should consider putting him down. It's the humane thing to do.

Sounds more like the Vick-bashers are the ones high on the horse. Abuse of animals sucks, but its way better than say, beating your wife ala jason kidd. Like I said earlier, these guys are under a LOT of stress and they need an outlet, and if we gotta sacrifice a few dogs to keep wives from getting beaten, then so be it. And where were all the kidd-bashers a few years ago. I believe you are genuinely concerned for the dogs and I respect that, but it seems most of the people I have heard from on the subject feel a lot more strongly because its Michael Vick. Funny, but I don't remember Kidd beating his wife lasting for more than a day in the press, but when Michael frickin Vick has a coupla dog fights, ESPN'll spend all day talking about it. Like I said...posturing and vick-bashing, and not much else.

Guys need an outlet for their stress they have a choice to:

    A) beat their wife
    B) beat their kids
    C) torture their dogs

Why not go with D) all of the above?

I don't get it? People who abuse wives, children and/or animals are abusive. It's not really all that hard to be pissed at Vick for torturing animals. It's a pretty sick low life thing to do.

do you have any evidence that links the two? are professional athletes the only ones involved in dog fighting? i agree with you that humans come first, i'm also willing to bet if he gets found guilty they would give him a longer suspension then if he got a dwi and that's wrong. but i dont think people under stress NEED an outlet of dog fighting in order to not slap their wives around... that seams like a leap.
