Who said he couldn't defend himself? What man defending himself apoligizes for it? Would you apoligize if you didn't do something you felt was wrong? If you did wouldn't that make you a liar or at best a hypocrite? If he was defending himself and accidentally struck the women, why apoligize to the team? Why not apoligize to the victim in this case the women?

Because he can't think for himself as he has proved one too many times. Hes probably getting advice about what to say and how to diffuse the situation in the quickest way possible. I think by apologising to the 'victim' it almost an admission of guilt , if not worded very very carefully.

I am certainly not defending Miller as the evidence piles up, but in today’s PC NFL any player has to apologize for any negative press. Look at Clinton Portis forced to apologize for defending Vick's privacy. That is actually a terrible example for me since I was offended by his remarks but I didnt feel they warranted a team apology, I just learned a new wrinkle about Portis. The bottom line is that I don't feel this apology indicts Justin Miller in any other way then him being sorry for providing a distraction to his team.

Now for me to go off on a tangent

I find it amazing to see how many self righteous mid life crisis's patrol this board as the morality police. I find it sad that most of you are either too far removed from your twenties or just didn’t do much with them in the first place. I don't pretend to be anything I am not, and the last thing I want on a Friday night is to end up in a bar fight. However maybe I am just a magnet for trouble or my girl is just a magnet for drunken men because she is attractive but I often find myself in situations where the only recourse left is with fists.

This is a far cry from initiating discussions with girls like Miller *allegedly* did as I am on the other side being the man who's girl is being hit on. I see first hand how things can get out of control and how ANYBODY can end up in a bad situation. Unless you want these players to barricade themselves in their homes until training camp any night on the town can turn dangerous no matter where you go, especially in NYC! It’s not like we live in Green Bay here. I understand some of you have slipped under the radar but for others of us we see all to well how trouble can come from the most remote places, whether you are looking for it or not....

Instead of labeling people opposed to men beating up on women as members of the mid-life crisis patrol, why don't you correctly label yourself the punk enabler you apparently are. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you seem to condone this behavior. And just exactly who here is calling for Miller to "barricade himself in his home until training camp?"

As an ex-paratrooper and Vietnam Vet (with a wife seven years my junior who used to model professionally in NYC), I've been in as many bar fights as you have after being confronted by jealous women or men hitting on her. At no time did I ever think about hitting a woman.... well, almost no time... there was one who I really wanted to beat the crap out of after I took care of her boyfriend... but I did enough of a job on him to ruin her day too and besides, I was already hearing police sirens, so I figured I took out enough damage. But seriously, man. Think about your above post.

    1) NFL Pro-Bowler who hasn't exactly had stellar seasons as CB and who really needs to concentrate on these skills instead of getting involved with drunken losers.
    2) Your team moves up to draft somebody for your position (Knock-knock... Hello? Footsteps anyone? Maybe I should behave now?)
    3) You're aware of recent crackdowns in the NFL and of a new HC who is possibly the poster child right now for being opposed to negative off-field, distracting behavior, and
    4) You paste a woman (not a man), then run away and hide in a parking garage like some kind of chickensh!t @sshole.

I mean, come on! Give me one good reason, ONE, on which you base your above enabling post and subsequent tirade against those who find his behavior repulsive and punk-ass.

Since when are raiderjeaux and his fellow Raider fans considered the elite class of the monkey kingdom? Even if the remake of Planet of the Apes was filmed in Oakland coliseum.

So we are clear, I don't think the team should do anything regarding this incident. He should suffer the consequences of his actions either criminally or if his sued financially. As far as I'm concerned I don't mind punks playing for the Jets as long as they produce.

I also was very clear that any adult can have a good time in NYC 24/7, male, female, etc. As far as getting in fights, most guys who get into fights like to get into fights, guys that don't, don't it's really that simply 99% of the time. It comes down to self control.

I used to hang out with a guy in Boston who loved to drink and brawl, guess what every weekend he drank and got into a fight. Other friends of mine who don't engage in fighting have never been in a fight. Most guys who fight grow out of it.

Trouble can come from anywhere and if you have a combination of common sense and an awareness of your sorroundings, 9 out of 10 times you can spot it before it happens and aviod it if that's your choice.

When I was single in NYC I went out with many different women, okay looking, good looking and drop dead beautiful. If a guy was good enough to get over on the women I was with, a fist wasn't going to change the course of nature. You can't force a women to be with you any more than she can force you to be with her.

Man, I almost think you're trying to get rid of me, because I expected the universe to implode when you gave me a compliment, and I'm not vaporized into cosmic dust yet.

    Thanks, champ.

Come on, Puck, give credit where credit is due. They have to be elite to figure out how to open those teensy little latches on the cages at the research center.

Hey man, I run with a rowdy crowd and have had a tendency to do so most of my life, I am not a stranger to bar fights or heated confrontations after hours. And most of the time I can see it coming, because instigation tends to come from both sides when a situation escalates to physical blows. I have yet to see a situation like this that cannot be avoided. I also don't make millions of dollars as an athlete and public figure and haven't been given a chance to live my dream playing a game on television for millions of spectators, and neither do my rowdy friends.

Sure, situations can escalate and get out of control, and of course the details haven't come out in their entirety, but we have enough information to know the important facts here. Justin Miller was drunk. Justin Miller physically assaulted a woman (and not for the first time). Justin Miller ran away before being apprehended by police. Like Section 227 stated, he is in a league and on a team that are both very adamant about professional conduct of players that represent them.

As fans, I would like to think that we can expect from the team some sort of enforcement on the standards that they have announced and repeated, ad nauseum, for the past year... and the same from the league commissioner. The details of the situation are really not as important as the results, unless there was some fantastic and surreal frame-up involving a jealous woman or ex-girlfriend. Justin Miller struck a woman and ran away like a child. Or like a criminal. I don't give a damn about the apology he recited that someone else most likely wrote. The fact that he ran at all is enough of an admission of guilt for me. Justin tried not to get busted for being a dumbass. He was unsuccessful.

    New Evidence in Millers favour

A picture taken the split second before Miller took a swipe, is now likely to quosh any suspension or fine that could have been heading his way. Lucky for JM , see exhibit 1A.
