This story just keeps getting more and more interesting. I've met Justin a couple of times (not a personal friend or anything just at events and while on the sidelines for a game) and have posted here a few times how absolutely childish and immature that he came off to me (JMHO). This story, albeit from a friend of the victim, just solidifies my opinion even more. I'll side with others here that said let's wait until all the facts are out, but it's looking pretty clear thus far who started this.....

Barack aide sez she was gal hit by Jets' Miller

Jets star Justin Miller messed with the wrong girl.

The woman Miller allegedly popped in the face outside a trendy Manhattan nightspot is a well-connected aide to powerful Sen. Barack Obama, the Daily News has learned.

Kristen Jarvis, the 26-year-old assistant to Obama's chief of staff, was walking with a painful limp yesterday - and a friend blamed a drunk and violent Miller.

"Kristen has a dent on her chin. She can't walk. It took 15 minutes to get her into her house ... because of pain," witness Lauren Turner told The News.

Jarvis declined comment outside her Maryland home last night and referred questions to her lawyer. Obama staffers also refused comment.

But Turner, the sister of Jarvis' roommate, gave The News a blow-by-blow of the encounter that marred a weekend in New York to celebrate her 21st birthday.

Jarvis, Turner and other friends had just left Aer Lounge on W. 13th St. about 4:30 a.m. Sunday when they ran into Miller and two of his buddies on W. 16th St., just outside the Maritime Hotel, Turner said. Miller, 23, immediately started hitting on one of Jarvis' married friends, she said.

"He was drunk. His friends were trying to make him stop talking. ... He started to make rude comments to everybody," Turner said. "We didn't even know who he was."

When Jarvis' friends tried to deflect Miller, the Pro Bowl kick returner insulted one of her male friends and then took a swing, missing him, according to Turner.

"He stopped and then looked at Kristen. Everybody was just going off at the mouth. They were saying, 'You won't hit us! ... Why are you trying to start something?'" Turner recalled. "Then he hit Kristen in the face."

    Jarvis crumpled to the ground.

"She's a tall girl, but he was bigger and he's a man. He has a lot more strength," she said.

Miller - named the league's fastest man at the Pro Bowl in February - took off around the corner, cops said.

Several of Jarvis' friends chased after him and flagged down a cop, who caught Miller hiding in a nearby parking garage, Turner said.

Miller was arraigned the same day on a third-degree assault charge. He later issued an apology for the incident.

"He apologized to the NFL and his fans, but he did not apologize to Kristen," Turner said. "He was mad ... because he couldn't get somebody's number that night and it's a shame that that had to happen."

i call bs, of course an aide to a presidential candidate will win this press war as opposed to a young athlete with a prior.

i still think what he did was his fault. but people are making it sound like rape. and it was an accident. this article makes it sound like he had it out for the girl fromt he very beginning.

how a woman would suffer severe knee injury from a punch is beyond me also. miller was definitely in the wrong, but this is milking the cow if ive ever seen it.

in fact i really dont care anymore, all I hope comes of this is miller gets fined and mangini gives him a wake up call. now if mangini feels the need to suspend him great, go ahead. maybe its what he needs.

he fucked up, no denying that. got drunk and did something stupid. but then again who says her friends were sober either?

im guessnig this was drunk people meeting very late and nothing good comes of that. whatever.

I said this yesterday in one of my posts. True, we don't know all the details and it's still too early to assign total blame to Miller without knowing the facts, but one fact is clear right now.

Miller apologized to every Tom, Dick and Harry in the NFL... the fans, the NY Jets organization, the NFL and probably the guy who sells popcorn in the stadium. But he never apologized to the girl he slugged!

For that reason, I think JM is messing up and messing up big time. Mangini is going to want to know why he didn't apologize to the person he supposedly injured. And now it's almost too late, because you can just smell a lawsuit coming. She's probably in her lawyer's office as we speak... "unable to walk and function at work for Sen. Obama, physical pain and suffering, damage to personal reputation, etc., etc.

This is going to cost Justin Miller big time before it's all done, as well it should.

It is possible that his lawyer and/or agent advised him not to apologize to her as that would essentially be admission of guilt. I'm not saying that is what's going on, but it is certainly possible and I hope that is the case.

That is probably exactly what he was told... until things get more sorted out from a legal standpoint he's going to be kept quiet. And hopefully sober.

I in no way condone what Miller has done here. He should know better. So should Pacman, Tank Johnson, Michael Vick, Ricky Williams, et al. If they can't help themselves, you'd think the player agents who milk these guys every year would be smart enough to keep their gravy trains in line by putting the right guys around them. If Miller's not prudent enough to act rightly, you'd think his agent would have an interest to make sure he keeps his nose clean. Maybe I'm giving these agents too much credit.

Not to go on a tangent, but I also think the NFL is starting to be somewhat hypocritical on policing the morals of its players. I don't like what Miller is accused of doing, I don't like what Vick is accused of doing. Don't get me wrong. But how can the NFL also sweep under the carpet the issues of concussions or life-altering illnesses (both physical and mental) that this game has caused/is causing. Why does the morality witchhunt stop at the players' lockers? Shouldn't there be reflections in the mirrors behind the mahogany doors?

Anyone see the Real Sports or Inside the Lines piece of John Mackey of the Colts. Or this stuff with Ted Johnson of the Pats. What about the feeble pension all these old players receive for building the game?

If Goodell and the NFL are trying to uphold the image of a multi-billion dollar enterprise, they ought to start expanding their focus a bit, me thinks.

Speaking of hypocrisy, the NFL lives off promoting drinking and partying. Maybe they should stop the beer and drug adds before they come down on the players vices.

Then saying cause he "Couldn't get anyone's number so he got mad"??? Yah! OK...

Only one side of the story from the alleged victim.
Will be interesting to see how the rest of this plays out.

I am sure Ms. Jarvis, an aide to Sen. Obama...a Presidential Candidate, would have NO REASON, to paint the story in her favor.

~What was Ms. Jarvis doing being out at 4:30am?

~How many drinks did Ms. Jarvis consume during the course of the evening?

~How many drinks did her friends have?

~What words were exchanged between both parties?

Lot more questions than answers with this one...

anyone know how to get the friendster page that pops up if you google her name to work? isn't there an archive or something? I'd be interested to see who this chick is...I don't get it she lives in DC and was out with her roommate to celebrate her roomates little sisters birthday? It would have been a more awesome ridiculous course of events if the birthday chick got punched.....

The bottom line is this, fellas:

You're not a teenager. You're a mid-20 year old NFL professional football player with a fairly large financial contract and Pro Bowl status, playing for none other than the New York Jets. You're out on a Saturday night and you're partying hardy. But you don't exercise enough judgement to either control your drinking or bring some other dude with you who you're real close to who can help you with self-control issues if you're incapable of doing that for yourself.

But now you run into some people while you're cranked up who you don't know, male and female, and you decide to get into a physical altercation with them just for the hell of it. You could walk away from the situation, but you some how wind up pasting some strange woman in the mouth, one way or another.

If you're an even remotely responsible person, how the hell does this series of events happen?

If I was Justin Miller's lawyer, I would be asking the same thing of the woman.

I lived in Manhattan for 16 years and went out until 4:30 in the morning on a regular basis, I even went to work after all nighters. Adults in our society are allowed to socialize, dance, eat, drink and enjoy themselves and in NYC you can do it 24 hours a day. I can count on 1 hand the amount of times any of my friends or I were even drunk on the street or in a nightclub. I can't come up with one incident where my friends or I had any need to strike anyone for any reason during a night of fun in the city.

A 26 year old women out with friends at 4:30 in the morning isn't an issue. Someone assualting anyone on the street while drunk at any time, anywhere is.

If you were Justin Miller's lawyer you would play the race card. Fraudulently I might add but then again Koz was not an arresting officer.

Miller is being painted not for being there which is okay and it's also okay for the girl and their friends to be there. It's the punch and run that's the problem. Being there no problem, the assualt and retreat is where the problem lies. Criminal action is not a racial stereo type.
