I don't think the NFL would suspend him; he's only being arrested for a misdemeanor assualt charge, I think it would need to be more to warrant a suspension. The angle I really care about is how Mangini handles this...this is a new situation for him, and I'm interested to see what he does. Miller isn't that important to me, he's an underachieving CB, and Revis can handle the returns.
who knows what happened with the whole chase thing....im really curious as to what happened with this....i think this is the part that will make or break miller in the eyes of the NFL. its not so much the hitting as the chase that may be a big factor in a suspension. when more facts come to light, and we see what the term actually entails, i think we will be able to figure out, or speculate a bit more accurately on what the response will be....
Everyone stop overreacting. Its going to blow off next week. I feel bad because he wears green and carries the team name on his back but hopefully this goes away next week
can everyone please stop jumping to "lets trade him" and "he's suspended" conclusions. he has yet to be charged and honestly, if puff daddy (p diddy) can get off for shooting a woman in the nose, justin miller can probably get out of this. crazy things happen in nyc bars... trust me.
I see Mangini doing whats ever best for his team. IMO it should be keeping him the starting returner. mistakes happen, he was obviously drunk. Oh and why the hell does the womens knee hurt? Sounds like shes trying to milk some money over this to me.
Let's see all the Justin Miller Lovers come out now! Let me reference a thread a while back when many of you guys came to his defense: http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=20647 This guy sux at CB and he's a thug...
Ehhh he still never ran over a meter maid and still has alot to do before he catches up to Merriweather. Lets wait and see until more details about this come out.
this is the most minor NFL player in trouble story I've read since I've been reading NFL player in trouble stories.
Before anybody goes nuts, it is a 3rd degree misdemeanor. Shit if he pleads down he is going to get the equivalent of a traffic ticket. Really it sucks he hit a woman and ran from the cops. However all they charged him was a 3rd degree. Which leads me to believe this running form the cops thing was him trying to get somewhere to call his agent or something. If he really ran away from them don't you think they would charge him with something more. I know of a couple of people that have been in similar circumstances, that leave the scene not to run but to just cool down and think things through. The interesting thing is how is management going to handle this. Jones barely saw the light of day because of his infraction last year. My guess is the same happens here and he is prolly cut loose season end if he does not learn how to cover something and tackle it.
Great post. By all means, he was in the wrong and shouldnt be taking a swing at anybody. But if all he's being charged w/ is a minor misdemeanor, it must've been a big time misunderstanding and he wasnt truly evading the scene.
Adrain Jones got a DWI last year and was not cut. Miller will be fine, maybe Mangini suspends him for week 1. Westoff should give him a few lashings with his cane as well.
DAAAAMMMMMIIIITTTT!!!! The other night when I saw that Bengal got arrested I was THIS CLOSE to starting a poll asking who on the Jets do they think would be most likely to get arrested: a) Justin Miller b) other I am not surprised at this at all; from what I can tell, Miller has been nothing but a punk from the day he was drafted. Edit: BTW, anybody blowing this off as nothing didn't read this well enough: Miller was apprehended after a police chase at 4:20 a.m. At least he gets bonus points for the time he got caught.
If Justin Miller was a Bengal we'd all be laughing and saying how the Bengals are the Jail Blazers of the NFL, but because he's a Jet it's "oh its only a third degree misdemeanor." All I've read about is how X is a Mangini guy.. and how B is not. Miller is gonna be suspended, if not by the NFL, then certainly by Mangini. These athletes have to know how to act out in public, they are representatives of a professional organization, they should act like it.
