Jets cornerback Justin Miller was arrested early Sunday and charged with third-degree misdemeanor assault after he allegedly punched a woman in a New York City nightclub, ESPN's Jeremy Schaap is reporting.

    Miller
Miller was apprehended after a police chase at 4:20 a.m.

Police said Miller was swinging at a man, but hit the woman after the man ducked. The woman has a laceration on her face and swelling and pain in her knee.

Miller made the AFC Pro Bowl roster as a kick returner and was the Jets' lone representative in Hawaii. He averaged 28.3 yards per kick return in 2006 and had two return touchdowns.

...awesome. Mangini is gonna love this. I guess Revis is gonna have to return kicks this year for the first couple of games while Miller serves a suspension that he'll probably get.

    ugh

I can understand things get out of hand sometimes, and get taking a swing at a guy, but it is stupid. Missing and hitting a woman sucks a lot. Police Chase??? WTF was he thinking?

    I doubt he's suspended. It's a first time offense.

I don't know, had it just been the punch, I would agree. fleeing and leading the police on a chase rings of the very type of anti-social behavior and disregard for rles and laws that the NFL seems to want to curb and I think warrants at least a game, depending on the facts.

I don't think this was the first time...

Pre-draft arrestees are honored with the Order of Justin Miller, named after the ballyhooed Clemson cornerback who was popped with a noise-and-resisting violation the week before the 2005 draft; the 6’2”, 202-pounder shoved a female cop and screamed “This is my house and my party!” (“Shows good on-field leadership skills,” noted a scout who observed) when police showed up at his place after a noise complaint. Considered a sure first-rounder, Miller dropped to the end of the second round, where the Jets picked him up and turned him into a big-time kick returner. Other well-known pre-draft arrestees include Ravens pass-rusher Terrell Suggs (for a street basketball fight), Saints wideout Talman Gardner (boilerplate weed bust), and Eagles D-lineman Jerome McDougle (trying to prevent police from towing a friend’s car).

As you note, this certainly wasn't the first time (which is why, of course, the Jets were able to get him at the end of the second round). Unless he has a very good explanation for why he led the police on a chase, I would be very surprised if he wasn't suspended for a game or two. That seems to be life in the new NFL.

If he get suspended by the NFL, I'll quit posting here.. that's how confident I am he won't (not by Mangini, by the NFL)

It's a shame he hit the woman, because it said he swung at a man. However, the police chase was a dumb move on Justin's part.

I wonder how Mangini will handle this.

I think he should be cut. We don't need people who would do this on our team. He's not that good anyways.

I like the way it says "swinging at a man" as if that would be more acceptable!

A thug is a thug is a thug, get him cut and to hell with the cap and the return game.

You'd have to be borderline retarded to be an NFL player right now and go out and get arrested in the current climate, it's lunacy. He's obviously an idiot.

maybe youve missed the warpath that commissioner goodell is on....millers as good as out for at the very least 1 game. headlines with a players name and arrest in them are something hes looking to put an end to. pacman is a big time example, as he should be, but this stuff that millers doing here is a black eye (no pun intended) on the jets and the nfl in his mind no doubt....
