Yeah, Tom Walsh was the first guy to ever suggest that Randy is declining physically, not in possesion of the work ethic to offset that decline, and prone to dogging it. My gut feeling is that Randy will be a good boy for a year and make this work. But Walsh shouldn't be ridiculed for saying what eveyone else has been saying for some time now.
I believe that this starts the beginning of the end for the Pats - Chemistry and Character are way too important in Team sports and NE obviously and arrogantly think they can change the "bad apples" they picked up this off season. Ask Andy Reid and the Tuna who had to deal with TO.
We only picked up 1 "semi" bad apple in Moss. Meriweather's character has been blown WAY out of proportion. I have no reservations regarding him at all. If Moss doesn't behave, he'll be gone before he can do any damage. No loss. We would not have added another WR if we didn't get Moss - he's a bonus.
The Patriots have signed "bad apples" in the past and let's see what happened with them: Brian Cox - model citizen and got a SB ring Corey Dillon - model citizen and got a SB ring Rodney Harrison - model citizen and got a SB ring There is a degree of chemistry and leadership in the Patriots lockerroom that changes "bad apples" into players who find success. You can speak all you want about coaches who could not control players (your reference to TO and Reid/Parcells). The players in the Patriots lockerroom police themselves, and have done so over the past 6 seasons into a RS record of 70-26, a PO record of 9-2 and 3 SBs. The 3 seasons that the Patriots did not win the SB had absolutely nothing to do with a lack of chemistry or character of the team. No one knows what will happen with Moss, but he attended the voluntary mini-camp last week at Gillette Stadium. He has a history of waiting until Training Camp to meet his teammates. Great sign he has begun to change his attitude. We will just have to wait and see what actually happens once the season begins.
