I think you need to back away from the ledge and calm down. I am very concerned and worried but im not ready to claim this season a failure. its mid may. One game one day at a time. Trust me when I say things can change in an instance

That's wishful thinking. Our pitching is average. In a division with Boston, and a league with Detroit, the Twins, White Sox, Indians, Oakland, and the Angels, that's not going to cut it.

If we could at least hit, I wouldn't be so down on them. However, we can't score. Against anyone. We have a "high powered" lineup that has gone stone cold, top to bottom, with the exception of Jeter and Posada. If we can't get Damon on, ARod belting them like in April, Giambi going the other way like he did early, Matsui being worth HALF of what he's getting paid, Cano and Abreu hitting AT ALL, and Mienky actually being used like he should be, how can we expect to win any games?

The fact is, we're falling out of the race for the division very quickly. Add that to the sheer number of teams that will be in WC contention in September, and we're all but assured of our first October at home in many years.

As I've been saying for weeks, this is the same team we had in the 80s. That's not a good thing.
    -------------------

BTW: They just said on the broadcast that if the Yankees lose today, they'll be 9 back in the loss column. It would take a monumental collapse by Boston to overcome that.

They've never hit this poorly in the years under Torre. Pitched poorly, yes, but not the hitting. Plus, Boston hasn't had a pitching staff like this that I've EVER seen.

Unbelievable how putrid our situational hitting is right now.

This team is disgusting. I don't know how anyone can defend them at this point. If it's not clearly obvious that they aren't worth half the total salary of the team, you're in denial.

Exactly. If not for Jeter, ARod, and Posada, we'd never score a run.

I hope soon, those who havent watched yankees games will think this sounds ludicrous, but it would immensely help out this team

Well, at least he won't fall back to Brian Daubach.

so how does this work again? We get a mopey clubhouse today. The papers start going and firing speculations get going. By Monday Big Stein makes a statement about how he believes in Joe etc and we go on to win 7 out of 10. Then we pull the same shit over and over again.

He's had a nice May I guess in not that many AB's, but I'd look for Abreu to turn it around and help the Yanks out at the top of the order before I would think that Eyechart is going to give you much more on the year then a ~.700 OPS at best.

Shit I hate this team. Scrap the whole thing, including all of the coaching and front office, and start from scratch.

Maybe keep Jeter, Posada, and ARod, but everything else should just go.

There its is 18-21 going into Shea. Just give me one damn win in shea and I probably will be happy. I was pumped that I had tix to tomorrow's game but now I just how we dont embarass ourseleves. I still have a gut feeling that were going to snap out of this funk real soon.

Early this year, while the Yanks were in Minny, they were talking about how their manager once said Mienky was their best hitter. They discussed how he competed for a batting title too. He must have some talent.

And at this point, nothing else is working.

I guess it's debatable, but back then he was hitting .300 and putting up a near .400 OBP. When the Mets got him in 2005 I tried to talk myself into thinking that he could be that guy again, now in 2007 its even more unlikely. I mean, his OBP is still under .300 for the season.
