We are still rebuilding. I will be afraid in 2009 when we are actually supposed to compete for a title! Im more afraid of the fact that we don't have a decent Dt to stop the run.
I agree. But I am more affraid of the we don't have a decent RG or RT run blocking, so Thomas Jones can actually run the ball.
Given our downpoint was 2005 we really should be in competition for a title in 2008. You don't get a 3 or 4 year rebuilding cycle any more. 2 years is the interval. That's not saying we have to win in 2008 or the new regime has failed, it's just pointing out the obvious fact that if we're still rebuilding in 2008 they likely have.
me and u have preached for a while in random threadsthat our run blocking is atrocious and we have no OL depth. oh well, maybe another year inb the offense will help but we do need to address OL in the offseason next yr. definitely
I will be pleasantly surprised if the Pats don't outright blow us off the ball on both sides of the line next year. If we can even compete with them I will be surprised. I think they just have to many horses to deal with.
Once again, people in glass houses should not throw stones... its queue...the one to which you refer has to do with acting and billiards:beer:
Steelers-Bengals in the 70's. They played pretty even until the Steelers started winning Super Bowls and then the Bengals just kind of fell by the wayside for the second half of the 70's as the Steelers manhandled them year after year. Dynastic football is not a long-term match of punch and counterpunch. It's more like a Sumo wrestling match where it goes over in 10 seconds flat and the guy who won reliably beats his opponent thereafter until he retires.
Get ready for your own stones - the proper word is "cue" because this is an acting reference. "Cue the Godzilla theme" is referring to a director telling people offstage (or offscreen) to start a musical theme in order to provide a signal to the audience. "Queue the Godzilla theme" would be telling music to get in line, which hardly makes sense.
I know I have read your posts  . The fact is the FO and CS know it is a problem too. They tried to sign Colombo and OG was a position they were targeting in the darft (according to a few articles I have read) before they decided to trade up. I watch the Oline. While most people watch the RB, WR and QB, I focus on the Oline. I always have. I am by no means an expert, but I don't see the run blocking getting any better this year. Kendall is a year older and by all indications not happy. Clement is excellent when he sets his feet and doesn't have to move. If he however has to move his legs in order to move the Dlineman and open a run gap, he sucks really really bad. The guy can't move and doesn't have much power. Moore is just average and most of the time overrated by people on this board. The fact is after all his years in the league, he should not have this many penalties. Every play I worry he is going to get called for something. And penalties on the Oline are either caused by a lack of focus, or complete confusion. And after what 6 years, those shouldn't be problems for Moore. And the depth sucks. Injuries happen on the line all the time, we got lucky last year. Whose there for depth? Wade Smith? Blanton? JONES???!!! Bender is good depth with potential, but is a 6th round rookie. I really hope the FO focuses on the Oline next year. I trust their judgement, but I am really worried about the run game this year.
It did but thats ok, at least we're not arguing over whether or not Chad should still be our QB (and no, that wasn't a CUE to start discussing it, and no we shouldn't get into a queue to have our turn.) As for that article, all I have to say is: Weren't the Panthers supposed to be amazing last year? Anyone? On paper, the Panthers were supposed to be unstoppable. On paper, the Saints were supposed to be mediocre, still rebuilding. Things sure did turn out differently. On paper, the Patsies are AMAZING. On paper we appear to be entering our last rebuilding year... its funny how things happen but I believe we're better than everyone is giving us credit for. The Patsies should be good by all measures of their team. In reality, I think they have too many different things going on. Too many guys want field time and Randy Moss will be a problem, but not Randy of 2003.
wrong again. It's Kew, as in Kew Gardens. Kew the Godzilla theme. Duh. He was obviously making a reference to Queens because... well, just because.
We have been rebuilding since 1968. I think that term is so over used I hope I never hear it again. You either are winning or rebuilding. I for one want to win now. Of course our FO is content in rebuilding.
Great Point Don, You do hear that "year in-year out". "Rebuilding... its become a word jet fans are way to acustomed to." I wanna see us put the smash down and start forcing other teams to start rebuilding in order to stop us. Other words I hear far to often are "Close,Soon&Near". I wanna hear our time is "Now&Here!".
I think this is a good point here as well. The pats will give us and others problems or least of all they should. But with all that talent they got, it could turn out to Be what gives them problems. Competition, jealousy & over confidence can break a team down. Throw in a mouth piece like randy's, and it could tumble. T.brady's a leader, that's no doubt, but there's gonna be a lot of EGO's in there locker room this year. And look @ there D. It appears to be gettin alil old to me.
