Did Phil announce this himself over the loudspeaker during the 7th inning stretch? The "True Yankee" way?
Yeah, I know. I think the deal is that they purposely overstated the injury to begin with, just to make sure he had a thorough diagnosis before determining how bad it was. It turned out to be not as bad as it could have been, fortunately.
I'm really liking the progression Mienky is making. He was struggling early, but he's coming around lately.
Torre would rather a pitcher give up a homer than walk people? That brings Joe into a whole new world of stupidity.
Friggin' Abreu. Even when we get lucky he finds a way to choke. He is quickly pushing my patience too far.
That's it Joe. Zero confidence in your team. Great plan. Can we start discussing firing this piece of crap again now?
Hahahaha. I just love it when Waldman says something to Sterling, and he just responds "yeah" and you know damn well he was just daydreaming, paying no attention to her whatsoever.
I can't stand him anymore. He iw worthless,a sure out at the top of the order. Him and Mientkewicz should be switched in the order.
Sick loss and a flat out ASS kicking by Texas...Won the series though. Just a bad loss all around, Wang, the pen, the bats...Ugly.
Roger Clemens could make his season debut with the New York Yankees at Fenway Park, and that's fine with manager Joe Torre. "It's going to be a circus anyway, It doesn't really matter," Torre said Thursday. "Wherever it falls, it's going to fall." http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/baseball/mlb/05/10/clemens.fenway.ap/index.html
Yeah, I was discussing just this yesterday with my brother. Here is what I think should be the batting order now: Damon CF Mienky 1B Jeter SS ARod 3B Giambi DH Matsui LF Posada C Abreu RF Cano 2B Sure, it'll probably ruin Abreu for good here, but screw it. He's causing far too many outs at the top of the order. Even at ARod's worst last year, he wasn't nearly this bad at the plate. At least ARod didn't look friggin scared to swing the bat. Abreu is stepping away from the plate when he swings. He isn't seeing the ball at all. Then you look at his fielding, and it gets even worse. It's not even that he's having problems like Alex did, he's just lazy. He was a good pickup last year, but this year, he's just garbage.
At least Abreu isn't signed beyond this year. Another 17 million wasted. He was good last year but obviously has some emotional problem this year. It's not just hitting despite what junk says. He can't field anymore either. Hell, he can't even throw. Three plays in a row yesterday he didn't come close to hitting the cutoff man or getting the ball home.
Junc. I hope you don't mind a non-Yankee fan viewpoint. But, looking at Joe on the News last night, the man has no fight left. Maybe it is outside family pressures, ie., health and old age, but he looks defeated and hardly the type of field general to inspire the troops.
That's the same guy who as winning 4 Championships- he hasn't changed. he has always looked half asleep, he is a calm guy and doesn't panic and that style of leadership as been a key in our posteason run the last 10+ years.
