What would be your offensive and defensive strategies against the Pats in week one if you were in charge?

These are my "keys to victory"

    Offense:
Ball control, ball control, ball control.

The newly renovated Pats offense needs to be kept off the field if we want to win this game. My goal on offense would be to sustain long, time consuming drives and be aggressive on 4th and shorts. It will be important to score TD's instead of FG's. Basically I'm playing the Pats like I would play the Colts. They're going to score so let's keep that offense off the field as long as possible and tire out the defense in the process.

We need to be able to run the ball effectively early in order to accomplish this. If Mangold cannot neutralize Wilfork alone, get a Barnes, Kendall, or Moore to help. This will be the most important individual battle for us this game on the offensive side of the ball.

Get Leon Washington the ball in space early and often. We can't run every down so getting the ball to our biggest playmaker with screens and dump passes will be important to keep the defense honest.

    Defense:
Relentless, creative aggression will be required.

I'm already conceding that these guys are going to be able to score fairly easily with the weapons they have. We cannot sit back in coverage and expect to stop the pass. We'll need to send extra people from different places on a consistent basis to prevent Brady from having time to pick us apart. I'm telling the d-backs to be overly aggressive in going for interceptions, not worrying about getting beat if they miss going for an INT.

If they score quickly, I'm not overly concerned if we can accomplish the offensive game plan. If we get the INT's from being super aggressive, that gives us a great chance to pull off the upset.

Be physical with Brady - if you have a chance to hit him legally, make him remember your number. Those hits add up.

Based on what we know right now, as opposed to what we'll know coming out of training camp, I'd use one of the following gameplans:

    Offense:

If on the left hashmark - Student body right.
If on the right hashmark - Student body left.

These plays, attributed to John McKay at USC in the 60's and adopted by the Dolphins and then Steelers in the 70's are sweep plays designed to get as many blockers on one side of the field as possible with a runningback following them to the sidelines.

Then you have the counterpunch which is naked reverse bootleg to the opposite side. Yes, we could see the spectacle of Chad letting it all hang out with 20 people on the other side of the field...

This would probably lead to the old Navy mid-play formation known as "when in danger, when in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout."

On defense I'm gonna have to go with the old Monkey with a Stapler in the Secondary ploy.

You could absolutely shut Randy Moss down with a 90lb chimpanzee hanging on him (literally) and stapling away as he went down the sidelines...

I know, we can send a pretty girl to Brady's hotel room and let him get her pregnant and then he'll be all worried and distracted during the game and....oh wait, he already did that

Look I don't have a problem with trying to distract Brady off the field but could we do it in some way that doesn't lead to that lucky bastard getting laid again?

Some things are just too much to bear.

I agree..except for the J/K part. How else do we have a chance. This team is built not to lose a game for the next 3 years.

Wheres Tonya Harding when you need her.

We must score more points if we hope to win. If we don't score more points, chances are that we'll lose, and this will be a bad thing.

    Keys to Victory:
    Offensively, we must score points.
Defensively, we must prevent them from scoring points.

I agree with the ball control aspect, more specifically I'd attack the middle of the pats defense.Bruschi isn't as good as he use to be and Vrabel is better on the outside than inside.I believe that Mangold will be a better player than Wilfork, hopefully Mangold's already developed to that point after another training camp and with one years experience behind him.Remember the pats game we won last year,Mangold dominated Wilfork that day and that was the reason we could run the ball.A 3-4 defense is only as good as it's nose tackle.
